We need some
We have a single animated logo that Crinity did a long time ago for us (visible in the official NS FAQ), but this is quite old. Do any of you artistic types feel like making more animated banners? The size, content and message are all up to you. You can use any of our concept artwork, backstory, screenshots, or any other are we've created for NS to do this. I'd like to post the best ones in the FAQ, so other sites can link to us using your banners.

Thanks for helping us spread the word. Post your work here.

Wow. very good Ramses! I really love that second one, it has a certain feel to it that brilliantly sums up what NS is all about.

my only complaints are that I feel it may be too big to be used as a banner to put on other websites, unlss it was there as a dedicated advertising banner. But then again, what do I know eh?

ramses, love you second one. may want to mirror the evolution; instead of them popping in from left, try it from the right.

Really great work Ramses !. Would add a neat effect if the "http://www.natural-selection.org" would fade in a more royal way instead of just popping up. Just my thought thoug ..nice work

Hmm.. Something about the pure-white halo on the text bothers me.

wow awesome, only critism is that the basic red text looks to plain and out of place to everything else. Great work!

Here's my attempt... Hope you like it. Suggestions are welcome =)

EDIT: I think I made it too fast... =(... It goes slower in ImageReady I guess.

Lol, I just started using it though (I remember glancing at it and seeing it could animate) =)

Campaingjunkie:
You're right, it IS slower in ImageReady...
I like the banner, only the "Natural Selection" seems a bit low-quality to me...
• CampaignjunkieCampaignjunkie Join Date: 2002-06-10 Member: 746Members
Okay, I slowed some of it down a bit more, and compressed it... I hope the loss in quality isn't too much =)

Hmm, the Natural Selection DOES look a bit low quality...

I really like the ominous tone to your banner, Campaign. I only wish you could make it much smaller (width/height) so it would be displayed on many websites. I don't see how you could do that while keeping your text messages readable though.

A program you could use is Gif Movie Gear. It's okay, but doesn't really let you add effects. But then again it's a pretty good converter to gif.(unless you already have Photoshop)

Heres one. Theres 29 frames, so I had to lower the quality alot just to get it down to 180kb. I'm still stratching my head to figure out how to get it below 100 without loosing any more quality. I also had to remove alot of frames, mainly in the "zooming" parts in the hallways. And I really love that slogan, which is why I used it, I hope ramses doesn't mind.

Its too big to upload, so I use image link...

Wow great logos everyone! W00t!

Perhaps you might try to make something at the size of the old one too. IMO a sort of peoples prefers to ad a small 'button' to their homepage instead of a banner. I'm thinking of a layout like you see it on PA at the bottom, there are small buttons.

For the little 88x30 ones, I'd think the core premise of the Episode II Commercial's equipment, equipment, occupation: blah could be used. Just an idea to be built apon as I'm not so artisticly talented.

Hmm, I don't feel like downloading image ready. Why not use the classic "Join the Marines! See your Insides!" slogan?

Flay: will you be posting these in the official FAQ?
• FlayraFlayra Game Director, Unknown Worlds Entertainment San Francisco Join Date: 2002-01-22 Member: 3Super Administrators, NS2 Developer, Subnautica Developer
These are quite nice conceptually, but I think they are too big for sites to use. I don't think most sites would want to link a file bigger then 50k or so, and definitely not as wide or high. If anyone feels like making banners that are of the same size as the current one, it would work better (though I know most of these couldn't be converted meaningfully).

Ya know, Tzar, that was cool up until the part. That pixelated marine firing doesn't look good. Too contrasting with the rest of it, and in a bad way.
• RamsesRamses Join Date: 2002-05-21 Member: 642Members
I made also a small thing, but I think that's more a BUTTON than a BANNER. As far as I know, a Banner has the size of about 486x100 (like sigs) and a Button the size of about 88x32...
Anyways, here's my button (ca. 19KB):
• TzarconTzarcon Join Date: 2002-02-28 Member: 259Members
yeah, the cartoony marine is kinda wierd, but its the only thing with a gun that canbe small enough to tell what it is, and it was late I'll probably do another one today or something...
• FlayraFlayra Game Director, Unknown Worlds Entertainment San Francisco Join Date: 2002-01-22 Member: 3Super Administrators, NS2 Developer, Subnautica Developer
Yeah, I agree. Your banner kicks other then that though, just remove the marine and it'll be set!

Oops, I guess I had the button/banner terminology wrong.

Ramses, that's a cool button, but it doesn't seem as cool as I've come to expect from you. Maybe it has too many words so it takes too long to see the message? By the time you read the whole message it doesn't feel like it was worth waiting for, perhaps?
