You need a bsp decompiler, google it or go <a href='http://3dgamelink.com/html/download.php?op=MostPopular' target='_blank'>HERE</a>

Also, Quark can decompile BSPs. But any BSP decompiler won't work all that well because much of the information in the original .map is lost when it is converted to the BSP format - only enough information is saved to render the map in the game engine. If you tried to re-compile a .map from a decompiled BSP it wouldn't work, you'd have to repair the brushes first.

Just curious but, if you're new to mapping why would you need to decompile something?

If its a sample map you want Chrome Angel has prepared one for us already. If your new to mapping this is the BEST place to start anyway. So go <a href='http://nsworld.ns-central.co.uk/mappingguide/appendix7.htm' target='_blank'>HERE</a>

By the way, when I first started to map, I too decompiled some maps with immense curiosity.

What I got? Dissapointement. The maps are just way too complicated for a beginner to understand. Just as an advice..

Even in Chrome Angels sample map, when I first open it, it was like, what is all this??!!! Ill never get this??!!?? So hang in there and look at small sections at a time. Its not as hard as it looks to make maps. Its just hard to make good maps. I still cant .
