Not bad. But I'd cut off the thingy under the barrel and use a chain-magazine instead of this one <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Same with the grip under the barrels. Those grooves can be skinned on
And with all the polys you saved, you can make the pistol grip look less puny <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
not a bad concept though
mhm I don't like the grip on top of the gun and the drum mag.... but the rest is good. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
I'd make the top of the gun like in the old version. for the "ammo-feed" I'd use an ammo box or an ammo chain for this weapon...
ammo chain:

ammo box:

carryng the chain around like in your pics can be a real pain.. you get dirt into the chainlinks(in combination with the oil you use to make the chainlinks more slipy it gets a very nasty slimey stuff).. you should support the chain while firing(thats another reason for 2 men on a machinegun).. it jams... bah <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> ive experienced that a mg 42 with a selfmade drummagazine and a support thoung for the chain jams more often than feeding the chain with "hand"
and btw.. miniguns cant feeding chainlinked ammon .they using a linkless system.without transfer rails(feed chute) and a ammo drum or box you have to feed every round per hand..lol
the placement of the drummagazine in your pic isnt very accurate,bacause the ammo in the drum is in a endless screw shaped chamber.the ammo is stacked with the tip to the outside of the drum,this way you get much more ammo inside. a coupling to the minigun motor enables the transfer of the ammo from the drum to the gun... the ejected cases goin through the orange transferrail (feedback chute) back into the opposite side of ammodrum..
edit: your gun would not spin without a motor ... a minigun isnt self propelling,bigger systems usin 3hp electro motors, or a pneumatic turbine (aww.. i love this sound)
what you have not seen in the movie was the long powercable that was connected to 2 truck batteries (up to 4 batteries),and the ammo fed chute that goes down to the ammo box...(in the other scenes he got a ammo backpack.. but the effective ammount of ammo would be to heavy)
in the movie they reduced the firing speed,and they loadet for one scene where this dood was firing in the trees every 10 rounds with live ammo,the rest was blank cartrige load...(in the other scenes they used only blank rounds) otherwise the recoil would kick you out of your boots <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
oh... and in real live this gun would not be in use by infantry.. the batteries and the ammo (you need lots of ammo..) would be to heavy,just inpractical.even the smallest version is just mounted on trucks and helicopters.
Stop poking holes and realise how cool it would be <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Smartgun anims?
i think i gonna modify the damm onos hunter <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
<b>EDIT: Speaking of the first model pic posted on this thread.</b>
this'll do the HMG some justice as a high-rof model.
another question, are these revolving barrels? if so, it would be really cool if they rotated by themselves while you were walking around. they need to accelerate a *little* bit before reaching full rd/min speed.
overall, very cool looking gun.
for everyone's info, the cliche' (using ' instead of accent) minigun is the General Electric Co. M134 (or 134a)
-7.62x51mm NATO
-0.8m length
supporting someone's info that no infantryman could carry it alone, it weighs
<span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'>26.8 kg </span>or <span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'>59.1lb </span>
with its power supply. so, black guy in predator, put that thing down.
-559mm barrels
-4 grooves, rh
-4000 round belts
-cyclic rate of 6000 rds/min (you call it CYCLIC rate, not rate of fire, for a gun with a gatling-type design)
just some totally useless info i felt like spewing.
THAT'S the gun i'm talkin' about!!!!
not suggesting you should copy that, just an id of what would seem a more logical way to hold it...
(i have a replacement for para in cs with that model <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> )
