<div class="IPBDescription">Problem with the long jump...</div> I don't know where else to ask this...

Everytime I try to execute the long jump in Half Life, the game suddenly freezes until I let go of one of the keys. This only happens when I use the cntrl+space long jump combo. If I use something like c+space or something, it works fine, but it puts my fingers in an awkward position.

Duck jumping works fine. It seems that it only happens when I hold ctrl and then hit the space bar.

I'm running Windows XP. Can someone please tell me how to correct this?

    Right then. Here's a .dem file for you all to look at.

    It's the hazard course.

    The first four jumps are to demonstrate with the crouching bound to "c" and the jump bound to space.

    The fifth jump is an attempt to execute the long jump normally using crouch bond to "ctrl" and jump to space.

    The sixth and seventh jumps are demonstrating the effecting in mid air, holding the ctrl key and then pressing space.

    I think you've solved it yourself. The problem being that you're using Ctrl and Space at the same time. This is probably some sort of embedded windows shortcut in some way.

    As i said, you've solved it yourself, simply rebind your crouch or jump key to something else. I always use Q for jump and E for crouch. Never had any problems myself <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    well, using space for crouch and C for jump has never caused me problems (after I got used to it), and it's durned convenient for Counterstrike!

    i used "T" for forward, "F" for strafe left, "H" for strafe right, "G" for back.

    best. config. ever.

    it utilises practically the whole keyboard!!

    excluding the numpad

    hehe

    Must be something XP-specific, I have ME and ctrl+space works fine.

    I still fail to see how all of you use keys dor duck and jump that force you to not be able ot strafe

    cntrl = duck
    RMB = jump
    alt = important thing (be it popupmenu, prone, alt fire, stunt what ever is important for the mod)
    space = use (I started on wolf3d and doom)

    I happen to use KP_END and CTRL for my Crouchs, but people say it hurts their hands <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
