How do i get sky boxes to work?

but i dont know how to get sky boxes to work could someone please enlighten me <img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>??? thanks

Specify the sky name in the map properties (the environment map property). Use the SKY texture wherever you want the players to see out into the skybox.

put the texture "sky" on the brush that you want to be the skybox. Now, in the "map properties"dialog, in the line "environment map(sky name)" put in the sky of your choice. to know the sky names, look in your Half-life/[your mod]/gfx/env.

i try to compile my map wen it comes up and says there is an error : 'the system cannot find the file specified'
it says this twice
ive already been seaking proffesional help <img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>
and they have said that i have to make sure my Dirs are all setup right i just want to know if u guys can second wat they said ? or if not give me another reason y it isnt working?

Maybe you should make a small sample map and attatch the .msp or .rmf to a post here, so folks can see what you're doing (or doing wrong).

the strange thing is is that it was working fine yesterday (Saturday) but isnt working today....... <img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'> it could be because i added some new texture files??

It gives you these messages when you compile or when you load in HL?

If when you compile you could post the log here, so we can get a better idea.

This isnt a problem with the sky box. If the specified sky is not available it just loads the default HL one instead of giving an error message, YOu must have added something to the map. Possibly a model, sprite, sound or a new wad file.

i prsume its the wads that r causing the error,because lately i have been installing alot more of them

yeah im now almost certain its the wads because i just openend up an old map with very few of the textures on it and it compiled perfectley thanks for all the help guys
