    Ok.

When NS (via HL) crashes, it may sometimes leave your screen looking washed out. You can then click on 'Start | Run | Natural Selection | reset gamma' and it will be fixed. There's no need to download it again, or reboot, or whatever you meant.

As for errors in FMOD.dll, that is usually caused by another mod being installed and overwriting the correct FMOD.dll with an older version. Can you tell us what other mods you have installed, and what the date and version of your FMOD.dll is in your half-life or CS directory?

Ok. Right click on the FMOD.dll and choose 'properties'. Then write down what the 'modified' date says. Then click on the tab marked 'version', and write down what the 'file version' is.

Post that info back up here and we can see if you have the right one (note that I'm at work so I may need a few hours to get home and compare versions, unless some kind soul here that is near their copy of HL can tell me).

The FMOD a 3rd-party library for MP3 playing. A lot of mods that use MP3 players include it.
