Hellfire3k on IRC kindly pointed me to this suspicious coverup over at http://www.dhmo.org/ . It's quite an interesting read... :/
I dunno about the rest of you, but having recently moved to Florida, the DHMO around here has done nothing but make me continuosly sick to the point where I simply refuse to take any.

Dude, this is serious! They probably had some of this stuff at Columbine
er am I just stupid or dihydrogen monoxyde = dihydrogen (H2) with monoxyde (O) thus being our H2O friend the water?

Honestly, he's canadian and they get scared over the stupidest crap.
im more scared of the effects of Terrorism, Cancer, Sicknes, Lead, Insect Bites, Pollution, Carbon MONOXIDE, Arsnic, Bad Divers, Buckets with more then 1/2 inch of water in them, alien invasion, a metorite hitting the earth and extinguishing all live on this planet,...then This Dihydrogen Monoxide, like the other guy said, It would probley break down into water through the chemical reactions that occur.

whats even more stupid is they try to blame this crap on the colombine shootings
So whats its basiclly trying to tell me is It's not Video games, It's not Music It's not Rap It's not Doom It's not The fact these kids were complete losers who got picked on by all us buff kids. It's not the fact these kids were **** up to begin with. It's not the fact that Moore said its because Colombine builds nuclear weapons (big lie)
It's because a 2 atom gas has formed?

I, too am drowning in the irony.
Krunk, you're a victim of the joke as well.

A simple experiment to show you just HOW dangerous dihydrogen monoxide is (do not try this at home unless you like scars and getting your hair burned away!): Get a medium-ish lump of pure Natrium (chemical formula: Na). About 200 gr. (no IDEA what that is in oz. or whatever freakish weight unit YOU use!) should suffice. Look at this innocent little lump of Natrium. How cute. Now, heat it and somehow mix it with chloride (I don't care how you do it, just hold your breath). What do you get? SALT! Simple salt. Use it in cooking if you like. Now, as we know, chloride is really poisonous, almost as much as the flouride there is loads of in your toothpaste. Yet the natrium is so peaceful that it will turn it into simple table salt! Wow!
Next round: Get a medium-ish lump of pure Natrium (chemical formula: Na). About 200 gr. (no IDEA what that is in oz. or whatever freakish weight unit YOU use!) should suffice. Look at this innocent little lump of Natrium. How cute. Now, pour about half a litre (no IDEA what that is in gallons or whatever freakish volume unit YOU use!) of that evil dihydrogen monoxide over it, and whatch as the innocent lump of natrium EXPLODES! Then go and clean all that molten natrium off your face. Be sure not to use dihydrogen monoxide, or it'll start burning again.
What do we learn from this simple comparison? Dihydrogen monoxide is WAY more dangerous than chloride (which is the substance that makes sure that swimming pools stay germfree despite all the little kids peeing in the water). Think about that.
Disclaimer: As I stated above, do not try this at home unless you like being injured heavily and transfigured horribly. And even then I don't take any responsibility.
That's the chemical symbol, not formula, for sodium lolfighter. I love being anal. Think I'll go bathe in some dihydrogen monoxide now.
Actually pure H2O is bad for you. It robs your body of minerals.
This joke is so old though I rember hearing something about it when I was 12. Every chemistry teacher tells that joke and exspects the students to be like omg hahah you sure fooled me!

The human body must secrete it. When excess water is being intaken the human body will secrete the anti-dieretic hormone (Vasopressin)
Thus the human body uptakes more water in the cell.
