Comments
1) Soundcard has latest drivers
2) EAX is turned off in NS config.cfg file: s_eax 0
3) If still occuring, move sound card to different PCI slot.
And let us know how it goes so that if the fixes work, we can recommend them to other people. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
EDIT : it is a soundblaster pci 128
Your system shouldn't really have any problems if you have the latest drivers as was suggested above.
ill have a go with just playing hl.. see if its NS
then reinstall it... and this can fix things like crashes..
s_eax
and
s_a3d
make sure BOTH are set to '0'
(that's a zero)
and try again. If both are set to 0 already, try setting A3D to 1, and if it was already set to 1, set it to 0. There are 4 possible combinations, and one is sually the magic number for someone.
I got the same problem due to high cpu temperature...
Some mods require more system ressources than others and you may check
if cooling is working fine on your computer...
My problem was a bad cpu cooler installation...
shame on me <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->
Just about everyone's heard what happens when you use the standard shortcut: anything and everything!
Also, just to clarify, you're using a GeForce 256 AND a GeForce 2 Ti?
Anyone ever tried playing NS with 2 video cards?
Just my 2 cents, for what they're worth
i **think** it is fixed now i will get him to post in here later guys
thx for all your help <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
as a warning, the desk top shortcut does one VERY specific thing:
NS will not run.
the syptoms are:
trying to create a game and the only maps you have are the HLDM maps.
trying to join a server and you get an error that basicaly tells you that you don't have the game installed (or uptodate, don't remember which one).
I simply don't want false info out there (I have seen 'don't use the desktop icon' as peoples solution to nearly everything)
And I hope it works, so GL mate see you IG
:S weird :S
i've had much worse problems than that with the desktop shortcut...
o' course, that was on a VERY weird setup... a beta OS, a v. bad gfx card, guess it was just that
:$
