So far, not bad...
I'm pleased with how this is turning out. I am getting pretty good at at making curves with Valve Hammer Editor. (That used to be something I had major trouble with.) How's it look? r_speeds at about 350-410.
[Edit: The original image here had been doctored to make it look brighter. I've re-uploaded the raw output from pressing F5. It's slightly darker than in the game, but it's probably closer than my overbrightened pic.]

It's looking good I like it.
That bright ring of light is only on the floor, you know. There's still plenty of shadows overhead. Also, keep in mind that not every room is going to be this bright. As an experiment, I'll see what it looks like with alternating light panels instead of a solid strip along the generator. Also, I'm reducing the brightness of the green light inside the core:
err, I mean, actually I agree with chrome, the lower wall needs something to make it feel less blank. If anything you could throw a few computer console type things up there, you know with some flashing lights and other stuff. That would make the wall interesting, and it would fit with the idea. It also needs a no smoking sign somewhere, or at least a biohazard sign. Other than that it looks good.
what do we call this? I dont know the english word.
