There is a bug which makes it impossible to upgrade if the buildings is placed while the Y-axis = 0. But this bug shouldn't occur if you don't relocate. Are you selecting the right buildings? You can upgrade at, Arms Lab, Armory, Prototype Lab, Observatory. Just click on the building and down right you should be able to upgrade.

can you elaborate on this Y-axis bug? do you mean when the mouse is at zero on the Y-axis?

There is also another glitch that happens if you place mines too close to your structures, although the result is a bit different. When you upgrade, it just steals your money and doesn't upgrade, or it is upgrading but it doesn't show the status bar thing. That makes me mad, because then I don't know when my men are going to get MT or something until it says it's researched already when I click on the building.

happens to me a lot, what u do is try click other things, like clicking another building or other building lists in the comm chair, if u still have probs, get out and get back in the comm chair, if problem still happens, recy the building and rebuild it

No, when the *building* itself is at zero on the gamespace Y axis.

Which reminds me, is Eclipse going to be fixed for v1.1? That map drives me crazy with unselectable buildings...

I think sometimes mines can effect if you upgrade a building :-\

What are the levels you shouldn't build on? The lower part of Ecl or the part with the resnozzle? The floor of South Loop or the platform with the rs?

Ok I hope you all know the cartesian coordinate system. I think maps uses that coordinate system to keep track of where everything is. And everyplace on the map has a x, y, and z coordinate. Now from what I gathered from several posts, it means that when your building are at the GLOBAL height of 0, in other words placed at y=0, and put again in another way, at (x, o, z) where x and z can be any value you want, some bugs occur and you can't upgrade/select buildings, etc. For example eclipse hive and southloop are at that exact height. I know that shipping tunnel and sewer hive has bugs as well.

    |ds|meatshield summed it up nicely. Well done.

IIRC, I've also had problems building in North Core Access too. And I'm not sure, but I think I once couldn't build in Primary Generator Monitors.

(I seem to have had troubles just about everywhere in the SW quadrant of Eclipse at one time or another. Of the standard maps, this is the only one that really drives me batty. Maybe I'm just unlucky. It's a shame, since I love Eclipse.)

to give waypoints, select your marines by left-mouse dragging over them, then right click the spot you want them to go, or structure to guard or build, or welding point to weld, or other soldiers to guard, etc etc etc...

Note that in some maps certain areas won't allow you to give waypoints sometimes (I often get this in tanith Marine start)

Hold on. I though the z-axis was for height. The x and y are for horizontal and vertical coordinates.

I think that the whole coordinate system thing for NS is based on the perspective of the commander mode. The commander mode perspective is top-down, semi-classic 2D with depth. Adding the 3rd dimension into such a thing is sure to generate bugs. As most everyone that relocates to SL knows, you can't upgrade anything there due to the fact that the structures are on the 0 of the z-axis. If you want to upgrade things, all you need to do is elevate or drop your stuctures 3 inches by building them on the platform next to the res, or on the ramp into CC, or maint, etc.

It is the z-axis that is used for height, or at least that would make the most sense.
