Crash On Joining Marine Team

But not aliens, oddly
This irritating problem has just cropped up in the most recent build of my map, and it's all the more baffling because the map is only very slightly different from the previous build - just a couple of small tweaks and one fairly small room replaced with another one of similar geometric complexity.

I can join the RR fine, and join the alien team fine. I can even join the alien team, rejoin the RR, then join marines fine. It's just that when I join the marines fresh from loading the map, I get a brief glimpse of the marine spawn, then everything freezes, the spawning sound loops, and eventually I crash out to the desktop, without any error messages.

I thought possibly this was some form of allocblock:full type thing, so reworked the map so that the newest version actually has less geometry and entities than the last working version, and yet STILL I experience the crash error. This leads me to think it must be a fairly specific problem, but I can't for the life of me think what it is, as I haven't made and major changes, to my recollection.

So, have any other mappers experienced this? More importantly, does anyone have a solution, or any ideas?

the good one: there is a solution and it has been discussed in this forum

This error seems to happen randomly and is even more mysterious than allockblock full.
    Some known solutions.
    - Change the texture of your info_joint team.
    - delete some ns specific entities or recreate them from scratch.
    search for "join marines freeze"

I had this recently after making some minor map changes. Replacing all instances of the aaatrigger texture with NULL fixed it for me. I still don't know what the actual cause is.

I heared, when you sacrifice your pet on your XP-Cagey shrine, you get this error less often.
What? You have no XP-Cagey shrine?

If XP-Cagey had never made a new version of the build tools we would have much less errors
I stay with Merl's tools. They never crash. Merl and Zoner are the much better programmers! C'mon, we had a long time of Monotheism, now its time for some Polytheism!

Merl and Zoner haven't given us the planes optimiser and non-sticky corners HLCSG though, so don't rag on XP-Cagey and his tools, they're great. Got the error fixed anyway - changed the texture of the info_join_team entities from "null" to "aaatrigger" (the reverse of what worked for others, go figure), and it seemed to fix it. Most odd. Thanks for the advice guys
