im looking for a "AvP" model of the HMG... can any1 post a link? or better yet, post a link to a decent site full of NS models? (already kno about thehivemind.org)
When using other models, it appears that most NS servers take this as a cheat and will not let you log on? It reads something like, the file doesn't match and bumps you off. Will this be an issue with 1.1 also?

Server ops can set the variable "mp_fileconsistancy" to 1 or 0. If it is 1, then you must be using the default NS models (I believe it also applies to sounds and possibly sprites) in order to play on the server.
This is done to prevent cheating through the use of "spiked" models (models with long spikes come off of them that stick through walls), full-bright skins (for finding enemies in dark rooms), and others. It is a server option that I believe is OFF by default.
I'd have to disagree Virus. I use custom crosshairs, marine lmg model (avp pulse rifle), and hive site indicators and have not once had a problem with using them on a server. I think the majority of pub servers have file consistancy turned off. I could be wrong, but that's how it's been for me.
Most servers do NOT enforce file consistancy. I used to always have replacment sounds for the marine vox sounds until I switched comps, and I only remeber one server that I couldn't (but wanted to) play on.

Simply because, universal model consistancy would kill the modelling portion of any mod.
And despite how their little domain appears odd, with all their 'meshing' and 'boning' going on, they are a vital part of keeping any mod alive.
Personally, I've got changed crosshairs, changed healspray sprite and switched the knife for a crowbar. I myself wouldn't have the first clue how to do it, but I appreciate the skills of those who can. Don't enforce. Of course, there will always be people who abuse any feature, but they will always find an option to cheat in other ways.
And once you start to hurt a legitimate players experience of the game just to eliminate some cheaters, you've got a problem on your hands.
Exactly. If you're a cheater, why will you use neon pink skins and spiked models when you can use an aimbot and such? At least do it CS style where the model has to follow some limits, but not ONLY the defaults.

I tried using a custom crosshair and knife skin and I kept getting kicked from servers for it . Maybe I was just on the wrong servers.
