<div class="IPBDescription">Interesting</div> All the games I play I have sometimes seen a female skin in 80% of them. Yes, I have seen people model one and make it as a custom one, but it would be interesting to see a female model be written into 1.1 or 1.2. Just something to tihnk about but thats just me. <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::gorge::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/pudgy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='pudgy.gif'><!--endemo-->

1. Hormones. Imagine all the giddy little nancy-boys getting their jollies off when they see TSA Tomb Raider. Oops, hey yeah. Ok.
<!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo--> No.
2. Hitboxes. Women are generally smaller than men. Ok. We'll see how many players start switching to female armor so they are smaller targets for skulks. Tribes had this same problem early on, and had to fix the hitboxes because everyone was using the female armor, which at the time was a lot harder to disc from long range.

3. Ok ok, say there was a female marine, with the same hitboxes and therefore same size as a marine. How would you tell she were female or not? Considering she's wearing armor, protective padding, and a visor, you really couldn't tell unless you were up close. And really, if you're a skulk you should be concentrating more on killing the marines. Likewise, if you're a Frontiersman, you should be more concerned on what's making that chuckling noise around the corner, not watching her building that arms lab.
Mmmmm... arms lab......
1. That depends. What models are you going to base it of off? If you do what the Anime artists do, and model a skimpy dressed female as the protagonist...yea. That will happen. If you model a normal, everday female, you should be able to make it without getting a "TSA Female Model pr0n FanArt" result the next time you search for pr0n.
2. Hitboxes, have them the same, except that the female will be shorter, yet the hitboxes for the chest, arms, legs, head will be the same. its just that what would score a headshot on a male marine would just graze the top of the helmet of the female. Besides, skulks will still hit the female in the same spots as in the male, since the hitbox damage in NS is the same. If you hit the marine in the arm of the leg. Two bites anywhere = fin.
3. Hmm...perhaps by hair length? Guys are bald, females crop it short, so some hair sticks out of the back of the helmet? And then perhaps, slight lighting effects on the chest. Basically, the female outline of the body. Curve at hips, rounded arms, legs...etc etc.
Might be possible, just takes some creativity and time from the dev team. Maybe in 1.2? 1.3?
BUT not now. It won't be in 1.1...<!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> so don't get your hopes up for this happening soon. Unless you want all your marines female and not to have the selection, etc when you join the server (Like you should be able to pick your skin color on startup, like in America's Army).
Nuff said. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
PS: see Delta|Cpt.Terran post for my reasons. sry, but they were litterally taken out of my mouth.

yay!!!!!!! and I dont think the guys will be all over it.. i mean they know its a game if they are that preverted then they are gonna get shot if they ever go into real war
Edit: also like the medic would be cool from sc... however I think that female models would be a cool addition to be programmed in so that way u can have female and male sounds... In addition it would just be cool for people to run around as marines period no matter what sex they are just making it more sexually diverse is a good idea because then it says that yes girls can fight too... i mean wasnt that one of the points in aliens?
Edit2: Also please make it a good model, not a crappy one like most of the cs female models
"Duuude looks like a layday!!!" <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
I don't know about you, but when I swap back to my defaults, or even when I play with my SC model, I get like 75% of the time a black skin, and 25% of the time a white skin. Not really random equal. So, is it just me or what?
i mean, it's not that cool when you're running around with a fellow marine on a map, turn to ask a question (at this very, manly looking character btw) and have one of those rare female gamer voices answer. funny but not realistic.
then again there would be those jokers with a female model and manly voice.... <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->
There also runs the problem of the voices. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->
EDIT: If<Player.Model = Female Then<Player.Voices = Female (something like that, I know jack about coding)

I personally think they should code an alternient marine model to be a female into the game so that way it could have female voices and not interfere with the male voices...
They are planning Female marines. They sometimes have said they will be included.
They'll be in a future version
(Just editing my sentances. I fux0red up!)
And don't worry, we aren't going to design her as some big breasted Lara Croft clone, or, like a lot of fantasy / sci -fi games, have her wearing some elaborate torso armor and nothing else but a thong and boots...mmmm....thong...uh, sorry, where was I? <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Seriously, though, the female marine design won't be created to match the wet dreams of 13 year olds.
Unless of course there are some weird 13 year olds <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

I always found it funny when female armor left the chest, abdomen, and most of the legs showing.
Unless you have boobs of steel, you're screwed!
ahahahhahahahahhahahahahhahahahhahahahahahhah well if those people make um its on them I'd like to see female models just to see how good they can do um because then we can have female deep eyes too...(Like jane <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> and so it could be really coo)
To solve that we can make breasts here so big that they cover as much space as an male model would... <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Yeah they said the same thing in Firearms Halflife <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
I wouldnt cross my fingers, cause when the **** hits the fan and things become itemized those kinda things run the bottemline.
Like squeal like a pig said, its good that they do it right. I'm sure they are editing the voices and stuff like that.
And I object to this!...

Oh, c'mon who cares about them man. Do we have cameras set up everywhere watching them 'get their jollies off'? It doesnt matter.

They can use the same marine model and just edit it. Give it more curves, breast, lower the sholders to a <i>very</i> slight slant. Its easy, and keep her at the same hight. The hitboxes dont matter as much, to an extent, if they use the male. Dont be like all quoting me here, let me explain. Your biting, slashing, goring. Most of your attacks are close combat. What are ranged (bilebomb, acid rocket, lerk spikes, parasite, spit) is not going to be effected by some two inchs of space missing from her breast in the hitbox. That one cm from her waist isnt going to throw off your acid rocket aim now is it? That 1 mm cutoff on her sholder is going to make her spikes miss? C'mon...

Its the boobs man, the boobs. Thats how you tell how shes a girl. Unless they slice them off but... and I guess we could have her hair sticking out the back a little.
Just my two cents, although that there is worth twenty bucks.
The hitboxes will be the same thing though. It will just look a little thinner.
And the part about kids getting horny over this. CMON! Its just **** that you actually think that men will get horny about a female character in a videogame. If you even think that will happen, I suggest you grow up <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
You dont get to pick female player models. You dont even know you are one unless someone else tells you.
Arguable there, considering it happens all the time.
We'll see how long it is until some fanboy nude Nova makes it's way into Starcraft: Ghost.
And it seems my point was missed entirely. The marine, regardless whether it's a him or her, is going to be wearing powered combat armor. I wasn't aware there were different sets of BDUs for each gender, and I'm pretty sure a penny-pinching military organization like the TSA isn't going to either. If anything, you'll see variances in the head and neck area, less depth between the shoulders, and a minimalistic slimming of the waistline.
All in all, you're getting aesthetic changes only, which people likely won't see when they're out running the map or pumping rounds into a hive. *cough*which is what they should be doing instead of filling their ammo <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> *cough*
If anything, the new model (assuming their will be one) will be top-notch quality, as usual. And some female voices. But something like this that isn't going to add much to overall gameplay is not a priority. I know I'd be a lot happier when the dev team uncovers a new bug, or some nifty new gameplay tweaks, instead of working on a female marine.
