First Impressions

I've been playing NS for about a month or so now so i thought i might post my thoughts.

First up, this has to be the least newbie friendly mod i've ever played. I spent the best part of a week getting killed and being abused by my team. I can now understand why people get upset as the game is so finely balanced that any mistakes can cost you the game, that doesn't mean that players should start screaming abuse.
Despite this i carried on playing and i'm glad i did because i've found probably the best mod out there. I am amazed at the sheer design vision which shows through to all aspects of gameplay. I love how much of a true team game it is however fustrating it may be and how beautifully it works when players play together.
In the past month i've seen perhaps only a fraction of the total game and there is a heck of a lot that i still need to learn but i'd like to think i've got to grips with pretty much all of it bar some of the finer arts of being comm/gorge. I thought i might note a few highlights ( in no particular order ):

killing a skulk
saving a team-mate
killing 3 skulks without reloading
killing a fade
being scared silly by an onos when i opened a door
comm-ing to victory
and most recently pairing up with a guy called ManEater with HA/HMG and killing 2 Onos and several fades on our own. Magic.

low-lights would include:
First 2 days of abuse
Net-Tez <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo--> although thankfully only 1 of those
1 muppet who just kept selling all our stuff

I really hope this mod makes the change to HL2 and i look forward to V2.0 eagerly

At the begining this game was very newbie friendly but now that has changed..
If you can't comm.. don't try.. if you can't gorge.. don't try...

The most irritating is when you are Commander or Gorge and your team loses..
Moste people tend to blam the comm/gorge for that loss :/

Tbh its not very newbie friendly atmo as all the newbs have left and ya got all the people that play alot left and as u guess they hate to lose. Also some people (Afraid to say) deserve what they get (Such as Devil) i swear ill kill him if i see him again lol.

Anyway if u ever come across me <-- ACE ill either be ramboing as comm is crap

Following orders on a good day

OR in comm buying shotguns selling the IPs and see who lasts the longest or fail that JP-shotty HA-welder rushing and maybe on a very good day building a base <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

<-- I just know by putting my name on here im gonna get some crap oh well.

I'm past the newbie stage now. I managed to learn comm from games where no-one else would or from spots at emergancy comm or playing the start or when things were rough.
Suppose i should thank those at

    Skulk rush
    Mr.Men
    Jolt
    ByGames

and others for putting up with me, special thanks to those who took the time to show me the ropes too <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

I think I may have seen you on Mr.Men or Skulk Rush (I'm Hitman btw). I offered to help a newbie at comming but my POS computer crashed about 10 seconds later and the server was full by time I restarted.

    Anyway welcome!

My advise to all new players is to join servers with 5-6 people on them.... you learn way more because you are forced to do more..

Building, comming, upgrading, taking locations, seiging..

Running, biting, climbing walls, using acid rocket etc..

Plus you tend to run into mostly other newer players because more experienced players enjoy playing on games of 12 or more..

My first few comming missions were done on small servers and still use them when I want to practice something...

Anyways, welcome to the forums and to the game... Good luck...

Indeed, welcome to natural selection community. It might not be always so nice on servers, but that's something that can not be avoided. However forums are pretty awesome <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
