Update Corruption

<div class="IPBDescription">stupid half life</div> ok i have half-life version 1.0 and downloaded natural selection then found out i need the latest version of half life so downloaded that..

now though when the half-life is installing it gets to TFC map overview for push and has a wank and says the update is corrupted and quits... after that ns will install but when u go into the game it doesnt actually reconise that it is natural selection it thinks its half-life..

what i need to no is, is there a way to just skip that file in the installation and install the rest so ns will work. because i dont even want to play half-life anyway..

plz tell me i dont have to download the update again.....i have dial up and i'll cry <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    the ns installs fine but then i go into it and it keeps sayin error canot find string 480,481....ect. and i also noticed that it may have the ns backround and stuff but all the controls ect are the half-life ones and i cant join or make a game

    You can't have had HL 1.0 because the first released version was 1.0.0.5.

    Reinstall Half-Life 1.0.0.5, update it to 1.1.0.0, install NS 1.0, install the NS 1.04 patch (to avoid the shell.mdl problem), then DON'T RUN NS FROM THE DESKTOP ICON BECAUSE IT'S BUGGED.

    hmmz,

    1. install HL 1.0.*.*
    2. update it to 1.1.1.0
    3. install NS 1.0
