<insert snazzy description here>
This is my first post on here, so everyone be extra, extra nice to me .
Whenever I make a dedicated server on my grunty windows machine, it does a network game instead of an internet game. No way whatsoever of making an online game. I am using an ADSL Router (which is located in my spooky basement). Anyone have a solution?

demanding service doesn't mean we'll be nice to you anymore.
Anyway please be more specific in your problem so that one of the more technical members may attempt to assist you in your new server vendevore
Right now I am wondering if anyone will actually read this, and if they do, and they're an admin, will they ban me.
So, short answer is that you do, in fact, have an internet server.

So that's all easy, now this is the tricky part, your router will most likely change the port from the nice sensible 27015 to something wacky by the time the outside world sees your server and may even block peoples attempts to connect to it.
Go get the routers handbook - or download it from the apropriate website and set up a static port mapping from your server ip port 27015 to the outside world port 27015. If you need to set a protocol its UDP. This can be really easy or really hard and it's probably a good idea to let your parents know what your doing but learn how to do it first so they can see your not going to screw it up
Finally to double check go to serverspy and see if you can find your server by name.
just wonder, what are the specs of your server...

Anyway, the wan ip thing didn't work, I tried my local wan ip and my, quote, remote, unquote, ip address and none worked. Right now I am confused, and am pondering if my server will actually ever reach the internet. For the moment, I shall show, quote, Mr. Good Advice Man's, unquote, (coz I couldn't remember his name, you see) advice to my dad, and see what he has to say. Thanks to everyone, of course with the exception of people who haven't replyed to my post .

oh, btw, does anyone have a badass hmg model for me?
I'm guessing Windows, and if so what version of windows? If you're using Windows XP, you may have to turn off the firewall that is built into it...

My dad's doing stuff, and hopefully something will happen magically. Maybe.
