<div class="IPBDescription">A poem.</div> <u><b>T</b>he cold and darkness</u>, by Maveric.
Long is the watch of the midnight hour.
Searching my rations thusly I scoured.
A cheeze toastie to eat.
Though it is not hot,
It warms me to my feet.
But fills my stomach not.
Nothing but a cold wind blows by my face.
A lady's company I would soon grace.
But not right now.
For I am on the midnight shift.
I eat my cheeze toastie chow.
Floating in a ship, in the universe it does drift.
Cold is the metal plating.
On the cheeze toastie, orange cheeze's gratings!
My feet are sore from standing so high.
Nothing going wrong.
Nothing arigh.
But then, a mystic song.
From where it comes I do not know.
"Good sir," I reply "or madam, I do suggest you show."
But they show not,
And the song grows but softer.
Cought in the moment I seize my gun,
Sad I must say I am a chronic cougher.
Wheezing at the post that I so wish to hold.
The darkness grows more bold.
It sneaks like a fog on the floor.
Sneaking in its rolling way.
Sneaking from the coridoor.
Sneaking in its color of grey.
Seeping, slithering, and commanding of my soul.
The fog does envolope me, and in fear it does dole.
Crouching in a corner I do cower.
In hate I do embrace.
In fear I sat for in the next hour.
Ghostly white was my face!
Something moved by me.
The thing I could not see.
So slightly I had not felt it.
Though I felt it's presence there.
My gun's muzzel it did hit.
At my soul it did freeze and tear!
"<b>HAVE AT THEE!</b>" I louded.
The corridoor with bullets I had crowded.
But there, something dead on the floor!
What could it be?
Just then a movement by the door...
Its Ben, and he's running towards me!
"Glad to see you dude!"
But Ben was quite rude.
He spoke quickly.
He was so very cold,
And he looked quite sickly.
And soon he heard what I had seen and thus I told.
"But Tom," He did reply "there is a issue."
"Yes here, take my tissue."
"Not that you fool!"
"What? What is it then?"
"The containment... The 'school'..."
"Oh, don't even say <i>that</i> Ben!"
I looked to the past.
To my memory I cast.
I recalled a strange figure.
Four legs, like a dog.
Though it was somewhat bigger.
By god, the thing was odd!
And there it lay infront of us.
Escaped from it's bay in the cargo ship bus.
A skulk so nicely put cold.
The darkness it did bend.
But I grow far too old.
And this tale, is at its end.

Good job!

smoke blocks your veiw distance if your in smoke in XCOM, so the MT said something fast was 4 tiles infront of me... your vision is cut to 3! fired in the general direction and when the smoke cleared a crysalid's corpse was there.
completly inspired by it i adapted it to NS. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
PS: the Crysallid is hella nasty enemy, since it runs up, infects, and turns the soldier it attacked into a zombie. 3 turns later another crysallid bursts out of the zombie. lost a whole flippin mission b/c of ONE crysallid that got 2 ppl. <!--emo&--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo-->

Sounds like Shakespeare meets NS...umm...bit off, but good! Try adding it to your school curriculum!
