Gorge sucking can be done with a metamod plugin.

Who would want it, that's a different story.

Erm, so you want Flayra to release the patches that he wasnt happy with? If he was gonna do that I think he'd have just made the beta public, don't you?

You just have to think to yourself.. if they were prepared to release buggy and unbalanced work to the public, we may already have had NS 2.0 by now. It's doubtful that it will be released.

I wouldnt want to test the whole suckling thing, but I might give the no res for kills a shot. I'd like that more I think.

Young trotsky that would have been easier if it was a beta public and I'll explain why this would be very beneficial besides all the patches.

Not flaming or anything I can understand now I guess how the gorge sucking thing was unbalanced etc.

Onto the public beta thing: The reason why it would beneficial is "everyone" pt's,vets and the public working together and the pub giving nice feedback to the vets and playtesters instead of the vets and pt's giving feedback to Flayra it'd be everyone.

The bad thing about this is while the pt's and vets are playing NS v2.0 their getting all that info, gameplay, strats etc.Assuming they still play it after it's released the vets and playtesters would allready know what to do and thrash the public at public games when "everyone" could have been "Equal". I have patience and I'm allready ready for NS v2.0 hehe lol don't ask how lol have a nice day and looking forward to blasting all of ya rofl.

Why NS 2.0 is not an open beta - a story by coil.

Many of you might have noticed that Flayra posted in the Beta forum "hey, performance test on Fists of Ra, I need a full server!" Many veterans and a few playtesters answered the call, and FoR was full in a matter of minutes (I considered myself lucky to have made it in). A 24-player match with skilled players on a new, speedier-than-ever server... sounds like a dream come true, right?

It was, except for the intermittant, horrible lag spikes that came without warning and for no reason that Flayra could immediately pinpoint. After 10 or 15 minutes, he told us to go play on STD while he sorted out the problem, and he'd call us back when he needed us again.

The moral of the story: when you're releasing client patches once or twice a week and server patches often daily or even multiple times in a single day, trying to conduct a public beta just doesn't work. Flay was doing server optimisations on the fly, while we were playing; you can't do that in a public beta. And do players really want to play a lag-spiking build? No, I guarantee you they don't.

Flay knows what professionalism is, and it's what he uses when he releases NS builds.

CobraChaos Just let Flayra and his team do their work.Oh and I just read Coil's story and I agree.

Coil I think CobraChaos meant releasing NS v2.0 so peeps could create LAN games and play with bots.

coil is definetely right... everyone would start getting frusturated and wouldn't enjoy it... sure everyone says "O i can be a beta tester easy" but about 95% or so of those who say that never actually could... you make the game work for yourself so it will remain a game for others.. look at the beta forums and you will see huge almost college like essays in there... and most really could never do it.... i wouldnt want to be a beta tester for those reasons and for the imbalances..

its not as hard as you think - the essays that people are writing are just their thoughts and opinions on what they have noticed, and possibilities for changing it

But the actual playtesting is a whole different story... especially when you going up against a whole team of people that know exactly what they are doing, and they are damn good @ it.
