Only in level sounds.
I tried searching, but IE doesn't wanna connect to the search funtion right now so here we go:
My in game sound from the level is choppy/fuzzy/high pitched and buzzy. I think it's just from ambient generics and stuff in the levels, since walking sounds, speech, gunfire and the such are fine. Are there any console commands that can fix this so that I don't have to be annoyed half to death by having my speakers blasted out whenever I run past a generator?
I have WinXP running hl.exe in compatatibility with Windows 98 (since I get an even more messed up big with pure WinXP. I don't think Day of Defeat is having this problem (but there's not quite as many ambient generics in that).
Side note, elevators sound fine.
Appreciate any help.

As long as there are no console commands to remedy it, there's not much else I can do.
play with your seeting in the hl>config>audio panel.
also check wionodw sound options there is a way to setup your sound so it gets echoy and such so perhaps short and fuzzy too.
lemme know if that helps you
make sure that you have your software output levels at a safe amount (middle).
On your Desktop in the bottom right hand corner, in your system tray there should be a icon of a yellow speaker, open it and make sure that your software side output isn't maxed out. Adjust the sound from the speaker and make sure that the levels on the computer don't have too much bass or too much trebble.

...meh.
however there is a sorta work around. Go to the forum you wana search (like tech help) andd then go to the bottom right and type your search into that box and it tends to work
