My first map.
Ok, here is the begining of my first map ever! WOOT! So far I only have one room done, lol, but it is a hive room. Here are some pics of Hive Location-Pumping Station.

ok, it did some wierd stuff at first, but i think i have it all sorted out now. well the second one is a shot of where the doors will go, at the end of the catwalks. The first shows the hive in clearer view. The pumping station is where the kharaa bacteria made its entry into the Osiris research station, and normally there would be equipment hooked up in this room, but the researchers recieved warning and the company controlling the station quickly uprooted all portable equipment and evacuated the station. The only thing left here is the water pump, which is positioned below the hive. I am aware of certain things that need to be changed, and keep in mind that these pics are darker than they are ingame. Please tell me what you think, but be kind, its my first map!
Other locations planned for hives are Engineering, and Organism Research Lab.

Its the geocities doing that... copy paste the url to browser and they work.
Very nice start but it looks dark, try add some spot lights to give contrast and more detail.

Its because you hosted them on geocities, who don't allow you to remote link (access them from outside a geocities page). Right click the image, go to properties and copy the address of the image. Paste that into the address bar and it will work.

Nice start! I would suggest more contrast in the colour of the lights.. red goes well in this setting, so you want perhaps a bit of red in the corners. Light_spots work well in creating lighting contrast also.

Also, I don't like that water you use there very much. I suggest you use the one in ns.wad, I think it's called !r25_stagnant.

Ok, well i used the water from tanith, am i suppose to right click the image and copy the stuff, or are the people who view this thread suppose to do that? ill try the red lighting and see what it looks like, im trying to cut down on light spots cause i think i may have alot of entities, and you can only have 500, well 400 at 2.0 not counting spawns and such.

People trying to see the pictures copy the link. Next time you want to post some pictures you could just give links to geocities instead of trying to insert images.

Any static lights (lights that aren't switched on/off, they're always on) aren't considered entities after the map is compiled, so they don't count for the entity limit. (Make sure the light doesn't have a name or hlrad will think you can switch it and leave it in). And lights that are switchable, but are switched at the same time. (they have the same name so they are switched together) are considered to only be one entity after the map is compiled.

Or use Opera browser, right-click on the image field and click on 'open'

wôñdêrfül, although the lights look bad as they're fully lit and the area around them is nearly black.
Also, might try to break up that big flat floor area on the lower pic with something?
And I think that water looks a bit odd. Maybe its just the sshot tho.
Good to see a first map that isn't a big box in fullbright with the hives half a mile up a shaft and the
rine start at the bottom once in a while.
