<div class="IPBDescription">problems with ns</div> ok here is the problem all around, i play CS and love my friend tells me about ns so i want to try it, i go on the web download it i go into it and bam i click on multiplayer and when i click on internet game, cancels out drops down and it happens every time no nothing no error or anything so i figure ill just go through consol, i punch in a ip and bam MORE problems, it starts to say i dont have the right won authentication and stuff like that now i am stuck without ns, i also tried going to my cs shortcut and putting -game ns at the end of target but the cs screen changes on the main menu and stuff but when i go to consol and things its all still counter strike and will only play cs =/. i have tried reinstalling, using my friends files, downloading cs again and ns i have all the right things to run it it just wont run, plus im a pc idiot so i dont know to much about these things, so any helpwould be nice!

Don't use the desktop shortcut. It's bugged. Read the FAQ for details.

it doesnt work when iu try lunching it other ways eaither its all the same problem, i go to start try it from there i go serria folder and try from there no go

hmm i also had this problem, all i did was a few restarts, punches to the machine and a reinstall of ns and it worked <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'>

hehe i dont think brutaly abusing the machine is going to work....i tired that <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'> and some of this <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif'> just didnt work... so any othjer help would be great

Start CS > Play CS > Net games and choose a NS server.

I had to start CS and then ping for NS servers. Once I had my list I would pick a game and it would boot up NS and hook the server. I did that for a few months and then one day it just started working right

ok all seeing eye is a no go, an the thing with that is when i go int cs and look up the games, it finds NO ns games, so i cant go from there

goat if it freezes when you click on internet games then that means either you arent connected to the internet or the WON servers are down.

Download NS from another place.

Some distributions of NS are flawed and make life hell for all plaeyrs.

Delete your NS folder from your half-life directory.
Redownload NS from here: <a href='http://files.redphive.org/ns_install_v1.exe' target='_blank'>http://files.redphive.org/ns_install_v1.exe</a>
Reinstall NS.
Delete the NS shortcut from your desktop.
Report back here and I will give you some test server addresses to connect to.

Do not reply that you already tried these things, etc, because I can tell from your symptoms that you haven't. Just do them carefully <b>and completely</b> and report back here and we will fix your problem. I promise.

OK after downloading and installing we are back to square one where i click on multiplayer, net games crash i go to consol andi get it all messed up and says couldnt find GFX.Pallete/IMP and forces me to cancel by ctrl alt del....so i hate to say it nothing much changed thanks tho =/

Ahhhhh, finally: <i>an actual error message description</i>. That is what you needed to post in your first post. GRRRRR!!!

The error GFX.Palette/IMP means that when you are loading NS it is failing to find your valid valve pak0.pak file. This is usually caused by either a corrupt pak0.pak file, a missing pak0.pak, or an invalid path to the pak0.pak file.

So, we're back to asking you to provide us with standard info. Are you running CS retail or HL retail? If so, in your game directory, is there a pak0.pak file? If not, you need to reinstall HL or CS. If so, tell us.

May I interject?

Drunk goat, do you have any friends that play CS or other HL mods semi-regularly? Or friends that use computers frequently? They can probably help you out a lot, though people with HL experience (there are so many things that I learned since HL seems to mess up in every possible way it can) should be able to solve all of your issues quickly and efficiently. And they can be at your house trying to solve them on the spot. Is that possible? [/my $0.02]

i have alot of friends a few of which do play, and can help a matter of fact i have had a few over and tried, my main issue is i am visiting my father which happens to be the place i place cs at and such, now i normaly bring my CS cd's with me but this im afriad was the one timei forgot so now ever sience Evil told me some suggestions and such i have been tring to get my friend to send me his files. but anyway thanks for the help =)
