Hi I was hoping someone could help me with getting NS mapping up and running. I have the Hammer Editor and I tried setting it up for NS but was unsuccessful. I can start making maps and using NS textures but when I try to "Run" a map it wont load. I have a start point and a light source in my nice cosy room so I should think it would work. Thanks for your help.

Funny, yesterday we all laughted at you. some still do.
There are anough "getting started" tutorials all around.
iw as informed about that by someone else nad then i remembered it somewhere else
Too bad they didnt ban you.
And to Lt. Gravity, I happen to have had some experience mapping with Unreal engine but I was unfamiliar with the Valve system. I am sorry I wasted your 5 seconds that it took you to read my post and move on but I looked very hard for other information on this before I posted. The Snark pit was down at the time (maybe still is?) and the Valve ERC doesn't have alot of information for NS.
he has managed to get his post count up to well over 150 (mostly (if not all) spam). He got reset tho. Wish
someone would ban him. Yes, newbies all deserve a bit of patience, but this one...well, theres no suitable
word to describe this guy.
So much for monsieurs request regarding newbies. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
amen to that.
but when a newb keeps yellin', it gets annoying. And he's done 150 posts worth of yelling in 4 days.
[edit]stupid typo[/edit]
In my eyes its sowhat annoying. every week there areover 20 topics with 2Im a noob please help me!" in the title. I admit... that we were noobs once. shure I dont know how to use the func_weldable to my needs <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> but if you spend 4 years with figuring out how worldcraft works, how hl works, how to lower the r_speeds, what func_wall?s are good for,... its annoying when you realize that some of the guys dont even try too hard to get things work. I seems to me all the beginning mappers (left out "noob" here, more likely "greehorn" <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> ) for hl start or feel starting with ns. guys: ns is really hard stuff. all the years of hl-"experience" are only worth little when starting for ns. take your time, lern how to do things and most important: if you create a box with necessary entities DONT RELEASE IT AND CALL IT A MAP! be patient. in my rmf folder there are nearly 20 conzept maps/mapparts that never got finished but I lerned so much in creating it. maybe if beginning mappers get morepatient, some veterans will help them to create ns fitting maps. thats what its all about, isnt it? creating ns maps. not to mention "boxmaps", "dropmaps", "siege-maps" <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
Yeah, and everything else Gravity said too.
<!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->It seems like most people like to be spoon-fed information while only a handful would try to seek it
out themselves (by reading FAQs, searching the forums, etc). <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
What I suggest is some sort of blocker for people to post within 24 hrs of joining. That should keep many
non-serious people from messing about. Most of these people ignore rules thinking "these apply
only for normal people, I am Me and I do as I want.", don't read anything that doesn't fit their fancy, and
are generally ignorant/selfish. If you make 'em unable to post, that should either give them time to read the
rules/faq or discourage them from posting their trash altogether, and maybe even get them to read a
tutorial (ideal, but not probable).
