<div class="IPBDescription">building maps with bricks</div> Im creating a set of ns bricks /prefabs
Its groups of the same texture put in different shapes, most having 2^x size.
Just put togeter the brick groups and you have playable map in a short time.
For example you have a variety of door groups, non-flat wall groups, console screen groups.
Good for really basic mapping, makes your map look like early versions of ns_atomicmass for example.
Its a nice way to build a map: Basic repetitive architecture that becomes more and more detail till each place looks unique while the whole map keeps the same look.

doesit makesense?

this would be extremely helpful for newbie mappers.

you should also include entities prefabs, like the computer console prefab you mentioned but with a func_illusionary overlay, wall light fixtures with overlays and so on.

Someone should make sure that all of the FUN MAPP!!!!111!1!!!11oneoneone mappers know about this. I mean, at the least it would put SOME architecture into that design. I do think it's a good idea though, personally i'd probably use it, as i'm having a lot of trouble getting a map started.

Test hallway that uses only 3 different (and rarely used) textures.
2,5 "rooms" made of 17 pieces (5 different).

maybe you should set up some kind of standards for hallway/doorway meetings and whatnot. For instance making sure that all hallways and room doors are 192w x 192h or something like that. Another interesting idea would be to work up light sets that fit in different hallways. That way you could have four different sets of lighting fixtures that will all work in five different kinds of hallways. So far it looks like you've got a good start on this project.
