I was wondering is the 2.0 shotgun still got the improved rate of fire or have they got rid of that? I have looked in the changelogs but have not been able to find it.

Well normally when they change something back they say so, and I haven't seen anything like that so I assume it's still the higher RoF

    Improved rate of fire?

    hmm

I honestly dont know. I can't even remember how fast the 1.04 shotgun is as I havn't touched 1.04 since 1.1 testing started.

The 2.0 Shotgun though, is a .. sergical weapon I suppose. You need to hit your targets or your screwed. It does have a pretty high rate of fire, but its certainly not the be all end all of the marine weapons. If you miss a skulk with only a few pellets in close range, your pretty much dead.

    Ok thanks for your help

    2.0 shotgun is a BEAST

The firing rate is roughly double 1.04 levels, and pellet damage is also slightly higher. They cost 10 res.

Hopefully they'll atleast tweak the shotgun ROF. It's extremely overpowered ATM with it's high ROF as well.
  • Bosnian_CowboyBosnian_Cowboy Join Date: 2003-06-07 Member: 17088Members, Constellation
A shotty has the range of Bill Gates' throw. I doubt an increase in damage could make it overpowered. A fade or lerk could take down a marine with a shotty with almost pathetic ease. And the speed in the CS shotty is almost unrealisticaly slow. Why the hell would you want the pull back the shotty, pump, then aim it back?

not really otherwise they would be used alot more...

I meant slow down the ROF, not increase.

its not overpowered because you have to land pretty much every pellet in order to kill something in one shot - and the delay between blasts, although it doesn't seem like that long, only let you get 2 maybe 3 shots off (if your a horrible shot) before your over run by a skulk.

You have to be good with it. Its not something like a HMG where you can just hold down the trigger and kill things.

TBH i luv the shotty in its current form able to kill allmost any skulk/lerk in 1-2 shots. And also the reason i hate HMG as i cant aim for **** with it good for killing fades useless for skulks/lerks at close range (well thats my opinion).

If you have bad aim, you'd most likely do better with a HMG than a shotty considering you can "spray 'n pray" with a HMG and have to actually aim with a shotty.

Useless for skulks and lerks? We playing the same NS?
  • JaspJasp Join Date: 2003-02-04 Member: 13076Members
Nope my aim with HMG is crap due to the masive fire cone and the fact i hate the gun, i can kill like 5 skulks in a row with shotty but i die at once with HMG its just not my type of gun, shotty has a nice fire cone at close range and a smaller muzzle flare then the HMG due to the fact its 1 shot reload instead of constant fireing.

<!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->If you have bad aim, you'd most likely do better with a HMG than a shotty considering you can "spray 'n pray" with a HMG and have to actually aim with a shotty.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

i never spray its the fact i lose the target with the massive muzzle flare and the fact once comm gets MT i have blue dots on the aliens nomatter what happens that are a secound behind were the actual skulk is making it very hard to see him/it/thing. With a shotgun i tend not to lose the target asmuch.

One thing all skulks need to get in their heads is the timing of the shotgun. Once you have that down, your chances of coming out on top against a shotgun weilding marine increases dramatically. From there you just have to learn the art of sporadic movement (aka. bouncey bouncey bounce mode).
  • Bosnian_CowboyBosnian_Cowboy Join Date: 2003-06-07 Member: 17088Members, Constellation
Marines can't bunny hop in 2.0 so their chance of getting away deacreses dramatically.

I would much rather have a SG at the start then a LMG.
Skulks down in 1 point blanker, Gorge in 2.
I am also much better with a SG then a HMG.
I am one of the Brave (foolish) who run down Fades as they retreat! HMG just doesn't give you the same satisfaction that a SG does when you get a kill!

It won't be as easy to run down fades in 2.0. Blink is a lot easier to use. Of course, you won't be playing with mostly veterans so who knows <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> .
