Ns 2.0 Map Preview - Initial Feedback

<div class="IPBDescription">lookin sweet :D</div> First off, let me say the following: The new maps look <b>extremely</b> professional. I was very impressed with all of them, especially ns_origin and ns_mineshaft. The lighting on mineshaft is extremely atmospheric, and origin just looks to have very sweet level design and forcefields!
I love the new look of ns_lost, especially the readyroom - i saw it and i immediately thought "omg, i'm going to play ns_lost a lot in 2.0"
Few notes about the trailer itself:
1) The lack of anti-aliasing is sometimes very apparent - you might want to apply some sort of gaussian blur with a small radius to it just to make it smoother in case you can't get high fps on the vid card you're filming this on? (not to be nitpicky on your mad movie-editing skillz <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->)
2) I like the wind effect looping in the background, how it gives an "ooh, ahhh" effect.
3) The video pans kind of weird, it doesn't look like a telecine effect but it still skips some. Did you spectate through the maps and take demos by hand? I wonder if you could make a script to do it for you (just speculating)
4) Is the video using software mode? It looks kindof like there's an increased field-of-view fishbowl effect, but at the same time it doesn't appear that you can see more.

but my gripes are......MOST OF VEIL AND MINESHAFT ARE LONG HALL WAYS!! ...And to whoever said mineshaft was lots of long straight halls... was wrong, very wrong... The map has a evil clausterphobic feel to it, even the readyroom is cramped(which wasnt in the video I believe as the RR mineshaft had at the time was a placeholder (a big box with join team things).
Mineshaft=skulk's dream. Natural dirt (a first). Dark, but duh. there's that one res that's WAY out in the open.
Veil=detail galore. Looks like a real ship straight outta star trek. Don't know why but LOTS of stairs. And cc is in little cubbie-hole, aww, how cute, but how's that 4 base strats.
Lost=Atmosphere galore, but strangely most footage seems gray-ish. Curse the HL engine for bad H2o dripping fx, (but bless it 4 everything else).
Origin=amazing. Is that daylight I see? (Another first ladies and gents!) And an actual spinning generator too? (Wonder what happens when I push a cart with a crystal into it). And a force-field! And a hologram!!!! Wow, that map gots everything. (personal fav so far.)
EDIT: And i add that SERIOUSLY WITHOUT A DOUBT praise all the mappers for true talent, both artistically and technically. (As I said a century ago, people should take lessons from you guys...)

Not <i>exactly</i>...the name "Origin" was picked rather abitrarily, going with the whole Natural Selection/Charles Darwin/'Origin of Species' chain of thought. Indeed, I had the name before I had the layout totally planned out, and it was the idea that humans had been studying the Kharaa that led to the Biodome and Xenoform Research areas of the map.
So, to be clear, the map doesn't take place on the Kharaa home planet, but rather on the colony where the first recorded Kharaa infestation took place; thinking the Kharaa had gone after they wiped out the mining colony inhabitants, the marines took over the colony and built the Biodome etc for studying the Kharaa under lab conditions. Needless to say, things go wrong, yadda yadda yadda.
