it looses the element from other RTS games where you could see which way a battle would go before hand, you could tell from experience that this many grenadiers will win against this many tanks etc.. but with this kinda system skill becomes the main factor, and since skill is essentially random (as a dedicated pubber) you either ignore your worse players and give kit to the best only, or play a randomised game.
Basically he posted what would make a good team,but of course,he left out skilled players that enjoy running around the map randomly chomping on rine RTs <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> < --- That would be me running around....
not sure how it is in 2.0.
2) Everything will change in 2.0, so too early to say (though aliens seem to have an upper hand.)
At close range: Aliens.
Thought this was obvious.

Well, I kind of agree. Public NS is not predictable at all from the commander's point of view. Sometimes your squad of 3 marines falls to a single skulk, other times a single marine kills 4-5 skulks. Sometimes people listen to your orders, mostly not. I don't see how you could ever change this with an FPS/RTS game where FPS isn't played by you personally (like in Battlezone or Dungeon Keeper) so I don't see it as a major downfall. You just have to accept your role as a building-placer, health/ammo/gun dropper and a guidance center instead of a master strategist whose wit alone is enough to turn any team to victory.
Huh, who said that? <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
The marines will go for both hives, at one hive if both teams have the exact same amount of skill, about 5 minutes into the game and after marines are more powerful than the aliens.
If aliens happen to get two hives, it takes about two fades to take out an equally good HA/HMG (vs. one carapace fade, all I need is a lvl 3 shotgun and HA and I can chew through the fade and still have about 60/100 health/armor, imagine with an hmg...) two fades have very little chance taking out two HA/HMG, unless they have a lerk, and we know how fast lerks die...
JP/HMG. Do I have to explain?
Only thing aliens really have going that marines really have no chance against are webs and onos. And onos dosen't come till 3 hives, good luck getting there with a decent marine team.
Teamwork is sort of the 'core' of gameplay for NS,without it,you <b>might</b> be able to survive a whole army of skulks,but you will rarely do.But with one and splitting midway through a path you can nab 2 hives at once,Going for the quick 2 hive lockdown <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
