How do you think strategy will change in 2.0 for marines?

    With the electric TFac I wouldn't be surprised seeing the original 1.0 - 1.02 strategies.

    Set up bases at res nodes and dominate the resources. Lots of forward siege bases and more HA, like it used to be when games were fun.

    By the time you finished fortifying your third node with 4 turrents, you'll watch an umbra cloud appear around your little fort, skulks leaping in and munching on the hapless marines, and all your structures vanish as bilebombs do their work. GG.

    Good. I hated that strategy back when it was popular. I never thought it was much better than the HMG/JP tech rush.

    How about the ONOSes? How s your strategy to kill those beasts? JP?
    Are Onos and Fade now easier to kill than in 1.04?
    I found a damage-simulator thingie for 2.0 and seemed to me they arent that much overpowered anymore.
    Tell us more you Vets/PTs! More more!!! <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Fades have never been *that* tough to kill. You've just gotta charge em and not let em stay back to acid rocket you.

    Onoses, you've gotta keep your distance a bit and just pummel em. JPs work unless you're against a good Onos player that can use Paralysis properly. I don't know if Paralysis made it into 2.0 or not.

    Paralysis didn't, IIRC onos weapons go bite, devour, charge, stomp.

    Apparently onos is slower than rines so therefore perhaps u can run away and shoot them from a distance.

    And now fades will die after a single lmg clip which sounds a bit overpowered to me but maybe i missin sumthin. I just luv how fades wont be acid spam with acid moved to third hive, it will encourage melee fun.

    But i must say shotties sound damn tempting from wat ive read.

    Yes, it seems to me that in v2.0 fades and Onos not so powerful anymore.
    Here some stats using <a href='http://nonoobs.com/damage.php' target='_blank'>Damage Simulator NS v2.0</a>

    [Lifeform to be killed]
    o Weapon/Attack
    Upgrade Levels
    Bullets/Hits to kill it on each respective Lvl

    [Skulk]
    Lmg 0 / Cara 0-1-2-3
    11-13-15-17
    Cara 3 / Lmg 0-1-2-3
    17-15-14-13

    [Marine]
    o Skulk Bite
    LA 2-3-3-4 HA 7-8-9-10
    o Gorge Spit
    LA 5-6-7-9
    o Lerk Spike / Spore
    LA 9-11-13-16 / 24-28-34-42
    o Fade Swipe / Acid Rocket
    LA 2-3-3-4 / 3-4-4-5 HA 7-7-8-9 / 10-12-13-14
    o Onos Claw
    LA 2-2-3-3 HA 6-7-7-8

    [3Cara Fade]
    LMG 55-50-45-43
    HMG 31-28-26-24

    [3Cara Onos]
    LMG 100-91-83-77
    HMG 56-51-46-43

    That site also got a very nice Comm Guide for 2.0

    Good stuff, great job to those Vets who made this <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> Hurray!

    Early on, I imagine that simply hopping eletric RTs across the map will be surprisingly effective. After all, players are slow to pick up changes, so I doubt we'll find half the alien team going gorge, or the skulks getting support before tackling electrified RTs... And without quite a few gorgies, res flow will likely be very slow for the aliens (especially if the marines upgrade a bit), preventing large numbers of higher evolves from wiping out the RTs.

    Of course, this will only work for a few days, tops. On decent servers, anyways.

    Uhm, I just noticed. In 2.0 spores won't affect HA. So therefor, no matter how much you spore them, they won't die. That damage chart thing

    <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->o Lerk Spike / Spore
    LA 9-11-13-16 / 24-28-34-42<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    Isn't quite on target for the HA part. Sorry, I guess it doesn't really matter, just thought I'd inlcuden it.

    i can imagine this being effective for quite a while, esp with small games.

    I was actually thinking the opposite, as with small games it's a quick run to either second hive or fades, and then the res nodes are no longer secure.

    However, no matter what, I bet, if you jump in the comm first day and are half decent, res hopping will win you your first game of 2.0 (assuming you're not playing a bunch of vets, of course).
