Ns V2.0 With Redhat And V3.1.1.1

havenhaven Join Date: 2002-11-15 Member: 8767Members

Will it work ? ...
Given the problems that redhat users have had running NS 1.04 on hlds v3.1.1.1. Has this version of the half life server been tested and found to work with NS 2.0 ?

Also, ditto for the problems with admin mod and redhat (works fine with other mods but not NS 1.04), has this been tested and found to work during development ?

Any information would be gratefully appreciated. Its no surprise that I don't want to wait for the release in a few weeks time only to find that it wont run on my server, if there are going to be problems can we have some forewarning ?

Thanks

This is something that we will test when the dev team finishes the linux build. Have faith, we have a very compitent beta team this go around that is very savvy in linux. Not to say the last team was incompitent, they just weren't as linux savvy is all

Don't be fooled Haven, what we'll find is that AM will no longer work, and we'll be forced to use AMX.

Any chance you'll be able to tell us before the release whether it works with redhat/3.1.1.1? Just in case people need to tell certain higher ups not to go to 3.1.1.1 etc.

I'm not positive, but i'm sure it will include a Known Issues section stating such things

Getting kinda close to release day. Is there any update on this? Will upgrading to 4.1.1.1 on a Windows Server work with NS2.0?

    Ok: a few notes here.

Release Candidate 1 was exactly 117,478,647 bytes. (or 112 MB).
We haven't tested anything like Admin Mod on win32 or Linux. Hell, we just got the linux build in the beginning of July
Right now we have problems with marine footstep sounds not working on Linux servers (kinda like how MT didn't work pre-1.04)

I'm assuming the plan is to release and then fix things like this later.

    Hope that helps

only problem I get is sometimes it doesn't want to let vote commands actually count the votes...as for the latest hlds, I haven't even looked at it, and don't plan to, I don't want it.

I have nothing to say about 3111 at this time. But i can say however that Vada, myself, and Disq will be testing MM tommorow. If something doesn't work we'll try to get you guys a fix intime if possible.
