Just use a download manager like GetRight or Download Accelerator Plus. They'll let you resume your download.

that's still only limited help, I use download accelerator plus, and recently I had a download "complete" after only about half of a 200 meg download. Had to throw it away and start over.

pretty high, considering the amount of time that anything over 20 megs takes, along with network inconsistency and outage...

Well if 2.0 is released on either Fileplanet or Filefront I believe that for some negligible fee ($5 USD?) that they'll send you whatever files you wish burnt onto a cd.

I agree - I've never had any problems with GetRight, and I use it pretty often (for every big file I need to download).

Or just use BitTorrent, as far as I know it resumes downloads and is more reliable than File Planet.

I could split up the entire .exe into small parts like 5 or 15 megs each and host them for you, you download all the parts and put them together

People saying "Use Kazaa" are not too intelligent..

Do you have any idea how easy it would be for someone to put a trojan into the exec file and then you eejits dload it and it messes your comp up. Just download it from the mirrors...there will be more than enough.

GetRight hasn't failed me yet, i remember downloading a large file once (about 300Mb), over the span of 2 months, and 2 different OS installs, resumed over 70 times, and it still worked.

I have adsl, but I still suffer from the disconnection problem (every 99 mins) unless bandwidth is maxed. So I have to find the fastest server possible to download it off, or I may have problems >_<

FlashGet and Reget are the best two download accelerators I've ever seen.
get flashget or reget

Whats get right and that other thing for downloading do? My cable feels like 56k many times more over (I sometimes am over at my grand parents house checkin things out on internet). Just imagine haveing Road Runner, and not being able to downlod 1.98MB over the corse of half an hour!!

www.netants.com

Is pretty damn useful. It uses an algorithm to speed up your Download by small bits, it helps a lot on a 56K.

You can also set how much of your bandwidth you want it to use, so it's still possible to DL on a 56K and broswe the forums or whatever.

I set it to DL at 1 Kps while I browse.

u can use hj split and split the file and then use the program to join the pieces together. http://www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/

A good one will let you download slightly faster by using segmented downloading, but most importantly it will allow you to pause and resume a download at a later time.

Roadrunner is only nice when it's running, btw. "Always on" is a joke (at least in my area, NC). On bad days, I could still get more downloaded over the course of a day with a reliable 56k. That's sad.

BitTorrent. Nuff said. I'll be hosting the tracker and seeding and I'll post the info when the time comes.

Get BitTorrent HERE

BitTorrent downloads are resumable and bandwidth friendly.

Roadrunner IS always on around here in NC. Working full speed infact. I beleve it took me about 10 minutes to dl NS when it first came out(I used Fileplanet).

Best solution: get a friend to burn it for you. That's what a couple of my friends do. Cheap 'n' easy unless your friends don't have broadband (or if you don't have any friends).
