I got your off topic</div> Now as we all know there has been thread after STUPID thread filled with STUPID ideas or bad models or WHATEVER, which end up in one person flaming, another person pointing to the politeness thread, and then Sheena showing up and pointing out these repetitious actions. Frankly I believe I agree with Sheena on this topic because yes people do use the politeness thread as a shield to be able to flame someone else while looking like the "good guy" whos defending someone else. This does not mean I encourage the original insulter to go unhindered, but there are better ways of doing things. The politeness thread seems to hinder more than it helps in some ways. We are ending up with more and more threads turning into flame wars, debates, and generally going COMPLETELY off the topic of the thread... and I myself know I have done this as well.
So, what am I trying to say here? Keep your eye on the ball (geeze I use a lot of old quotes). Don't stray from the topic just to make a fool out of someone insulting a model. If the maker of the thread doesn't appreciate the person's comment they can defend themselves, if you want to say that that person is wrong say something like "actually I think it's a good idea" or "I think it's well done".... keep it on topic. We don't need "don't insult him Mr L... Mr. P is doing a lot more than you"... we need "Good job Mr.P, nice work". EVEN IF someone is flaming beyond limits don't you think that it's a better idea to just press that little "report post" button in the corner instead of posting some insulting post which perpetuates the offtopicness? When you post your comeback to an insulter, you are also encourageing others to go "you tell him Mr A" or "You suck Mr A, he can do what he wants"... make a little descression before you make a post, because you may very well be ruining a perfectly fine thread.

I think your a bit of an overwrought, zealous, paladin. Sure, you mean well, but this is getting to be a bit much? Expecially posting topics like this. This is the what...3rd? 4th topic of such a type about being polite/tolerant in the modeling community? Appeal to the modelers, who should be able to take critizism, not the community. Many in the community will follow, but some (IE: llamas, jerkoffs, ragers, Satan) will ignore and start something. PM when a situation comes up is advisable, instead of putting up a new thread which takes a position where a [WiP]model should be.
Something in it is probably where people think it's their "civic duty" to "fight the good fight" whether it involves them or not. One of these days it's gonna do nothing but bite you in the ****.
That's what PMs are for, and until people learn to air their dirty laundry in private (myself included, and you're in no way above this, Road <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> ), I'm afraid we'll be seeing a lot more of it.

Does anyone here listen to people who's posts represent them as flamers?
If im reading a post about a model or anything else for that matter, and i see the words "sucks" or "Blows" and its not talking about wind patterns, i skip to the next one...
noone cares what the flamers do, we ignore them, though we do encourage good behavior, those who exhibit bad behavior are ignored
and that's because most of the time they don't even have arguments to go with the 'this model sux'

I think that this post will soon become a flame war if it isn't locked. We got the message, and sadly, some refuse to acknowledge it. There is nothing we can really do, unless we somehow initiate something around the sorts of an "admin_vote_ban."
And no Delta this was not supposed to be about being polite, it was supposed to be about being considerate to the original thread authors (in other words, I don't care if someone isn't "polite"... I just care when they mess up the topic for everyone else)
Sad that this thread has both. /: Grow up, people... you disappoint me. You know who you are.
