New 2.0 Minimap + Obs ?

After reading the thread about NS2w.0 new minimap and seeing how it is supreme compared to the old......I have just one question....
seeing how this gives the marines a nice advantage cause now you know the layout of the map and locations of structures and build points.....does the marine require building an OBS b4 getting this "advance" minimap?? If not....wow...then the marines are really lucky from the start of the game.
I just find it amusing when marines get lost and there are battles being played out somewhere else on the map and they are frantically trying to get there but end up getting lost. So by the time they arrive to the battle scene....its too late. vise-versa for aliens too.
other than that....LOVE THE THE NEW MINIMAP!!!

yeah, it would be nice if aliens (and marines for that matter) could hit a button and pull up a fullscreen map. Just use the basic map picture (like the one in tanith RR).
I rember back in the day when i was a noob, NS has vary intimidating maps when you first dive in. a quick map like that would make NS newbie friendly while not taking anything away from us veternes
Only when you FIRST dive in? <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Flayra must've improved server performance exponentially because all these new features (especially the mini-map) seem to be constantly updating with information with structures and marines constantly moving to have a lot of leftover resources as not to lag the server. Either way can't wait till I get my hands on it. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

its not an "advanced" mini map. Its not some upgrade you get. Its just a minimap that works. Notice how the 1.0 minimap DOESNT DO ANYTHING. This minimap is simply one that does something. also its not an advantage because if you use that logic then anyone that memorizes a map is cheating.

The server performance is improved, but we didn't have to send any additional information for the new minimap.

Yea, position of each marine skulk etc. is always sent over, no matter you have minimap or not.
Sarcasm, the only way I know how to communicate my frustration. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
