<div class="IPBDescription">Err today?</div> If servers are updating does that mean Wednesday will have to be a completely non NS day.........? Have I played my last game of NS 1.04?

Seriously, if we're supposed to already know the answer to this I missed it because I don't know.

    As of now (1:24 AM EST) it is the 30th of July. You still got a day until NS2.0.

    Obviously at least some servers won't update.. heck, we still have a few continuing to play each of the older revisions. And while the ones with more active ops may prepare their machines for the changeover, I know at least two who plan to simply copy their HLDS folders and leave 1.04 running while 2.0 installs, and until there are a sufficient number of 2.0 players to justify the changeover.

    However, with the <i>significant</i> performance increases offered by v2.0, I get the feeling a lot of the nostalgia servers will end up switching over as well.

    So no, you haven't played your last game on v1.04, but just as with prior revisions, expect the number of servers to dwindle after release day. We think that once you play v2.0 though, it'll be a painful thought to go back to the JP/HMG rushes.

    Not every single 1.04 server in the world will be switching over to NS 2.0. I am sure you can find a 1.04 server =D Hopefully my beta 2.0 client will work on pub servers so I can start gaming! but it probaly wont <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    well, some admins will surely miss to upgrade their servers... others will set up a 2.0 server, configure it and when the client is released just switch it with the 1.0x server.

    If you look hard enough you can probably find people running NS 1.0 servers

    It has also been mentioned that 2.0 would be a really different game, not just a bugfix. IIRC that was the reason for going from 1.4 to 2.0 instead of 1.5 (which now is an unofficial plugin-extended NS). So some people (disgruntled lerks and marine spawnkillers) might just prefer the first NS game (the joy of cargo relocations, having two marines each block one powersilo corridor and prevent aliens from leaving their base, the lovely jetpack rush,...).

    There are still people playing Quakeworld and even Doom out there.
