    I use ASE to filter maps and i go on servers that are running nancy a lot those last days. I keep telling ppl on servers to enjoy the game cause it's the last days on nancy etc... many people are sad to see it go...

    You can decompile maps, I don't know why they don't do that. You need to retexture it all, but the majority of structures and entities remain correct. If anyone wants to give it a shot, I can upload a decompiled ns_nancy provided no one would mind.

    Mm Nancy was my Fav map, i used to just play that map coz it was the only map that gave good FPS on my
    OL' cel 433 Voodoo3 and i would get a standard of 30fps and on maps like eclipse i would get 16-20 Nancy was full on Greatness <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I did ask a while ago why someone didn't just decompile nancy. The answers I got indicated that it would actually be simpler to remake the entire map from scratch.     I think, as much as i like the map and it has many good memories, i'm with the people that think we should let it die. Remaking it, even with a layout and everything already done will still consume a lot of someone's time and decompiling it is useless.

    Let's just have our memories.

    No other map had a vent system that you could get lost in for days!
    No other map had so many references to the Aliens Movies,
    No other map had a Hive that lost its name and became even more popular.
    Nancy (with its strang name) was one of the best layed out maps in the game.
    I hope that someone remakes that map, and makes it even better.
    it doesn't have to be a Dev team member, anyone who can map, should redo it. I am sure that if ns_nancy2 showed up on thehivemind, it would get so many DLs the site would crash! Every server would have nancy2 in the cycle so it would only make sence to have the Dev team add it to the next patch. The problem is that no one will ever be able to make nancy2 as good as the first nancy!

    But (holds up a beer) Heres to Hoping nancy is remade

    Nancy would not be hard to remake. Actually, remaking it could help with getting rid of some of the errors. I'm pretty sure the 2.0 installer is just going to lack having nancy, I don't think it will delete it from your hd. When 2.0 comes out we can try it, maybe its not as bad as we thought.

    Nancy's the most effective map for res denial in 1.04... In fact, it's more or less the only one. Thus, I love it. Plus, hives with no names are sexy.

    Yeah, I think it would hurt the mod to lose a map as good as Nancy. It plays well, has some very memorable areas (mess hall, noname hive, those miles of tunnels), and makes relocation just hard enough. The resource battles are great, since the map doesn't have many absolute choke points that can shield a slew of vulnerable resource points.

    I'm all for "ns_nancy2", a complete remake. Of course, it shouldn't be identical, it should merely be nancy-esque. It should be improved, both technically and visually.

    In nancy were to be remade, these are the things that must remain the same to be fundamentally "nancy"

    1. Mess Hall must be of immense strategic importance. It must be in the center of the map, and have rapid access to all three hives, or at least to rooms that can seige the hives.

    2. It must have a totally interconnected vent system, such that by entering any vent, you can reach nearly any other vent in the level.

    3. It must have doors that don't work, and possibly half broken doors so that you can see into other inaccessable parts of the ship.

    4. It must have a nameless hive. That was just cool.

    Things that could be fixed in nancy...

    1. Make it so you no longer get stuck (the main issue)

    2. Hives shouldn't be shootable from vents.

    3. No marine has ever welded OPEN a closed vent. So don't bother making it an option. Just leave those vents open, and perhaps make them weldable -closed-.

    4. And extension to #3... additional entrances to some of the hives might be nice... placed in a protected part of the room. Make it easier to get the hive back once taken. Make it harder to have a half-hour long last stand in the hives.

    Nancy has always and will always be my favorite map. I absolutley loves subspace command and engine room. I loved the easy acces to noname and te "inverted siphon" that gave JP user's hell. I will miss being able to get anywhere through a vent. I will miss messhall terribly, for countless reasons (mainly because you could always ambush someone if you waited long enough). I will miss distress beacon spawning marines into that side passage. I will miss closing doors behind you as you ran from marines with parasite. I will miss the lerk battles in Cargo Storage. I will miss filling marine base with stinkcloud. I will miss the pathway of triplasers that filled marine base and all connecting walkways. I will miss using chambers to block JPers out of vents. I will miss WOLs near low ceilings. I will miss building sieges in "redvent" outside of engine room. I will miss biting people from under the grating near Marine base.


    I will miss a lot.
