You can decompile maps, I don't know why they don't do that. You need to retexture it all, but the majority of structures and entities remain correct. If anyone wants to give it a shot, I can upload a decompiled ns_nancy provided no one would mind.

Wow, good job on jynxing it. For some reason ns_nancy doesn't enjoy being decompiled. :/
You'd get stuck walking around as an onos. Didn't have to be anything in your way. That's why it had to go.
I'm all for reviving that map though. I've got found memories.

I think, as much as i like the map and it has many good memories, i'm with the people that think we should let it die. Remaking it, even with a layout and everything already done will still consume a lot of someone's time and decompiling it is useless.
Let's just have our memories.

No other map had a vent system that you could get lost in for days!
No other map had so many references to the Aliens Movies,
No other map had a Hive that lost its name and became even more popular.
Nancy (with its strang name) was one of the best layed out maps in the game.
I hope that someone remakes that map, and makes it even better.
it doesn't have to be a Dev team member, anyone who can map, should redo it. I am sure that if ns_nancy2 showed up on thehivemind, it would get so many DLs the site would crash! Every server would have nancy2 in the cycle so it would only make sence to have the Dev team add it to the next patch. The problem is that no one will ever be able to make nancy2 as good as the first nancy!

Aah, speaking of this topic, here's something that happened spontaniously late one night with some bored players on TheVille 5:

Go forth, ye map geeks, and save Nancy!
1. Mess Hall must be of immense strategic importance. It must be in the center of the map, and have rapid access to all three hives, or at least to rooms that can seige the hives.
2. It must have a totally interconnected vent system, such that by entering any vent, you can reach nearly any other vent in the level.
3. It must have doors that don't work, and possibly half broken doors so that you can see into other inaccessable parts of the ship.
4. It must have a nameless hive. That was just cool.
Things that could be fixed in nancy...
1. Make it so you no longer get stuck (the main issue)
2. Hives shouldn't be shootable from vents.
3. No marine has ever welded OPEN a closed vent. So don't bother making it an option. Just leave those vents open, and perhaps make them weldable -closed-.
4. And extension to #3... additional entrances to some of the hives might be nice... placed in a protected part of the room. Make it easier to get the hive back once taken. Make it harder to have a half-hour long last stand in the hives.
