4-person Surrendering...

is becoming EXTREMELY annoying
As I'm sure some of you have noticed, it seems that a lot of 2.0 servers now allow people to unbalance the teams by 2 people instead of just 1 when they're joining. This means you could join Aliens if they have 7 people and marines have 6, for example. I'm not sure if this is the default setting now or what, but it creates a big problem with the current surrender code...
Basically what often seems to be happening in big games is that one team or another frequently gets the 2 extra people, just because more people wanted to play there by some chance. Note that often even-numbered servers are full and the teams are unbalanced in this way, never to be corrected... Anyway, the real problem is that sometimes 2 people from the smaller team just quit for whatever reason, either just a coincidence or because they don't want to play on a small team. I've actually lost count of the number of games that have ended in a couple minutes before any one side is winning, because the teams started unbalanced and the smaller team unintentionally surrendered the win.
This is seriously aggrivating. I've had this happen to 2-3 games in a row before, all within the first 10 minutes or so of the game. I don't really know what causes people to do this but something really needs to be done to address the "surrender" option and make it depend a little more on an actual team consensus...
[edit]Personally I think there should be an option to vote for a surrender, similar to voting to eject the comm. Make it a menu option that, when chosen, suicides you and turns your screen black. If you choose it again your surrender vote is withdrawn and you're put back into the game. If a certain percentage of the team(say, half) is surrendering at any given time, the other team wins just as it happens now.[/edit]

vote surrender sounds good.
The team balance is also now server op settable and defaults at 2. Your right that this doesn't work well and I'm just about to change it back to 1. Good show.
Alien's had all three-hive's and six resource-nozzle's and the marine's had zero.
Out of the clear blue, while a pack of Gorge's were bilebombing the marine base while I umbra'd them.
The marine's instantly won because the teams were stacked over two in the beginning, and two people left on our team.
Its hugely unsatisfying to play for an hour or more, and to then have the game end suddenly due to a temporary team imbalance as people leave and join.
I think it makes sense to have it in to end games that are obviously over, to prevent spawn camping for fun/other lamery, but one team should have to be half of the other team size (when there are more than 3 people) in order for it to kick in.
