As human beings and social agents, constellation members deserve respect and thankfulness for keeping NS alive.
As players, they deserve no special treatment at all. The in-game context is separated from the social and financial aspects which concern the creation of the game.
Kicking to free up spots is an administrative decision with no in-game relevance, catered to favour a social elite.
Handing out weapons is an in-game decision which directly influences your chance to win.
Ergo: Constellation members deserve to be kicked last, but do not deserve any special treatment in equipment distribution.
In regards to all the millions of servers out there, this is true. But you see I'm a busy man. I don't want to have to try 3 times before I can play a 30 minute game. Not to mention that there are very few good servers. COFR is my favorite but now with its fame I can't even log in.
Yes there are 500 servers but frankly I don't care if it takes me 20 minutes to sit down and play a 30 minute game.
I have a list of 42 CS servers. When I feel the need to shoot something I randomly pick one from that list get in the game shoot something and come back when my luck runs out. It's fast, it's fun, and it's easy. NS takes longer. You have to really work for your team. I just capped 12 Res nodes because they kept falling and now the blessed Heavy Armor is being sent by God to his faithful... whoops I was kicked.
I don't think admins in rcon can TELL if you are a constellation member or not anyway.
Its pretty much luck of the draw. sheesh.
Its sad that you paid money, but it was a DONATION. Donations are made with the belief that nothing is really gained other than the psychic income of "ooh, I helped out!" To expect something (IE: special treatment) turns the money into a PAYMENT.
As for Flayra requesting mints on your pillows, I think that was more of a funny way to say "Thank you from the bottom of my heart" than a "treat constellation members like reigning kings".
I'm appreciative of the game that you helped us to get, but I wonder why you deserve special treatment now?
*yawn* I'm not trying to be disrespectful, but I'm ultimately not seeing what your point is. It sucks to be kicked, that I can agree with. But why cry?

For those that say : "Just join another server", I have this to say : Sometimes, it is fun to play with people you "know", on a server you play often. I, for my part, HATES joining a server where I don't know any players. I don't know how they play, what team I should join, if they're fun to play with, etc. Voogru, CoFr and Redphive(s) are the servers I play on. NONE other. I use HLSW and it auto pings for me. So I can do other things while I wait. Secondly, I am not crying. You seem to mistake my simple clean text for a fussing idiot. You are wrong. I'm not bitching to the world; I'm simply stating what happened and that frankly it shouldn't. I'm not asking for special moves, god speed, all I want is to finish my game that I practically won. I don't need someone who just downloaded 2.0 to tell me I'm crying. I want you to play NS, and I want you new guys to enjoy it. In order to do so you need people who know what they are doing to teach you. Those people are the ones that have been around since day one. Those are the people with the constellation icons. Frankly, I don't want that icon because I paid money, I want that icon because its a symbol of experience.

The first time I was kicked was no doubt by a Script, the next time was kicked I was the only Constellation member and the last time there was 4 of us, and I got the kick.
Flayra would like the community to be thankful to the constellation members becasue they more or less helped you get this game when you did. The way he asked was very basic. Kick someone else. If you see a const member, don't kick him to free up a spot, kick someone else!
I don't want a thank you, I don't want a pat on the back, I helped Charlie and I will donate again. He thanked us by asking that we be the last to be kicked. Flayra's Wishes! This is my point! Please show your gratitude by not kicking a const member to free up a spot.
Getting back to the original post... Majin, what's your average ping? I know that at least one of the reserve slot plugins works by kicking one player when a reservist tries to join a full server. However, the player kicked is not random, it's whoever has the highest ping. I don't think that's very fair, but it's just the way the plugin is written.
If your ping is particularly high, this would explain why you were constantly the first to be kicked.

Boy, I just love being ignored. Let me say it again, with a bit more emphasis.
The vast majority of the NS community DOES NOT READ THESE FORUMS. Most of them have NO idea what on earth that pretty star icon next to your name is. They do not care. This argument is pointless, because the people who are kicking you obviously do not care what you have done to support this game. All you're doing is coming off as elitist, which you are not trying to do. The fact of the matter is, if you're a member of Constellation it's great but special recognition is only going to happen on servers that have been around for a while, run by people who have been around for a while.
And stop flaming him for wanting a bit of recognition - what we have here is a failure to communicate. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
For all they know, it could be an icon that identifies cheaters. Yes, there was a mod that did this. I know I didn't know until I asked someone ingame.
you donated to flayra, woo woo woo, youre such a nice guy, but expecting special treatment from the entire community is simply arrogant.
Some people may give you special treatment, but dont expect it. I kno on my clan server when we join it will kick the person who has been connected the shortest amount of time regardless of any symbols next to their name.
No one ever explained the little symbols anyway, how is Joe Nub to know youre special? I used to ahve a green icon for being an admin, and people thought it was to denote i was a bot. (good aim?) in 2.0 the green icon is gone, and we had some people with yellow ones and some people with blue ones.
im told one of those is for veterans, another for PT and another for constellation. now on a completely different matter, i would like to say that i dont like vets getting a special icon, they did nothing to deserve it, just being in bigger or older clans shouldnt get them special status on MY server.

Majin this is the answer to your question. Most servers out there are running adminmod. This is set to kick the highest pinger so a clan member or server regular can get in the server. If you are kicked it is most likely because you have bad ping and are being tossed by a script. Please do not take out your frustrations out on the server admins, they are kind enough to let you play on a server which they own, mind you it costs a pretty penny out of most of them. It's great that your a constellation member but that has nothing to do with how adminmod works and that will never change. If you don't want to be kicked, I would suggest getting a better internet connection, like a DSL or CABLE connection.
For all the server admins out there that have reserved slots on their server, I would suggest downloading plugin_sank_consgreet which allows you to post info to the player before he/she is joining. In this text file you should post that the player is not guaranteed a slot because there are others that may need to get in, etc. Just to give the player a warning and not to make them mad because they thought they were kicked for being a newbie or something like that.
I for one won't give a Constellation member respect based on the star, to me he's just like everyone else. Some say "They donated money!" but did they have money to donate? Let's be honest, would it be more of a sacrifice for Bill Gates to throw $5,000 down for NS development, or for a person that had to save up for several months in order to donate $20?
It sounds like you were kicked shortly after joining the servers, I've known a few admins that based their kicking on who had been on the server longest/shortest. Perhaps that was their rationale.
To expect exceptional treatment based on the fact that you donated to the developers is just plain arrogant. If you did indeed donate just to get special treatment, then you really shouldn't have that icon next to your name. People who donate will eventually find themselves being thanked for their donations by random people, this is done by curtious people who truely appreciate what you have done. It will only happen every now and then but don't expect people to say thank you every game.
Btw, I wouldn't be surprised to find out that you were kicked once by a script, so you came here all fed up because you donated and then saturated your story by adding 2 or 3 more kicks.
Slightly off topic, but I think being kicked off the server out of the blue without explanation whatsoever is <b>very</b> annoying. Wether by rcon or script, the kick should always be explained unless it's an obvious case of person kicked being a lamer. First asking someone to leave is also always better. Leaving voluntarily doesn't feel as bad as being kicked, after all.
Yah well, if its a random kick, you might get it, it sucks, but its the way it goes.
I mean some systems are in place where kicks are completely random, so if Flayra was playing on a full clan server, even HE might end up being kicked, by the auto system.
I appreciate the efforts made by constellation members, no matter how small their contributions.
It was cute placing wagers at how many packs of ramen the constellation players on nano had bought for Flayra ;D.
That said, well, yeah, I even kicked you once Majin. Firstly, from rcon I had no idea you were a constellation member. And with a choice between you, who I didn't really know, and say, Gazaar, who I've known for quite some time, you obviously got the boot, your donation notwithstanding.

we only get the respect/recognition you give us in YOUR server...the icon is for recognition in FLAYRA'S game <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
If your ping is particularly high, this would explain why you were constantly the first to be kicked. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
He is very right.
It sounds like you were kicked shortly after joining the servers, I've known a few admins that based their kicking on who had been on the server longest/shortest. Perhaps that was their rationale.
They paid their money. Kicking a non-Constellation member is **** off another potential member.
See how stupid arguing over this is?
Btw, I wouldn't be surprised to find out that you were kicked once by a script, so you came here all fed up because you donated and then saturated your story by adding 2 or 3 more kicks.
I mean some systems are in place where kicks are completely random, so if Flayra was playing on a full clan server, even HE might end up being kicked, by the auto system.
