Come join in the fun!
Since I haven't seen notice here, I just wanted to let people know that Flayra has opened a public beta forum. Basically it means that you can post feedback on upcoming changes and play on special servers that have those changes implemented. As a player you do not have to download anything, just look for the word BETA in the server decription, that will indicate the server is using beta code.

You'll find the Public beta forum in the 'Natual Selection Discussion' section of the board. Feel free to pop in and share your thoughts, and/or play on a beta server and then share your observations. The more feedback Flayra gets, the better the game can be balanced!

By the way, I just wanted to clear up that just because Flayra is testing different changes doesn't mean there are major problems in the game. Since no game is ever perfect, Flayra is just looking to the future and starting to work on fine tuning the game further. The cool thing is that anyone can participate and have their say, without feeling left out.

I encourage anyone who is an active poster here to check out the Public Beta Forum and try to get in some games on a beta server.

First off I want to say that that's great how Flayra is letting everyone in on helpingout balance my favorite game. The public beta servers seem like a great idea given a lot of different players try out the test builds. Hmm...shouldn't Flayra take a rest or something before working on NS again?

Anyway to the point of my post: I am starting to see more marine wins now as players and commanders are realizing that resource towers are extremely important. In 1.04 marines would start off either relocating or defending base against the rush of skulks. Well now I rarely see entire alien team rushes because the aliens are getting resource nodes, but the marines are still expecting it. Thus the marines are losing ground in the first seconds of the game adding to faster alien tech. I am seeing more marine teams moving out asap to cap nodes, which lead to a way more even game.

Aliens caught on to the different gameplay of 2.0 quicker than marines because the whole resource model for the alien team changed. Aliens either had to adapt or be on the losing end. Aliens quickly learned that each alien had to help out dropping nodes and chambers in order for team success. The marine's model stayed pretty much the same, so that may be why marines are slower to adapt to new strategies and find counters to alien's strategies such as first sensory and movement chambers.

About the redemption onos: Many marines are not using shot guns which ca redeems an onos in no time. Many aliens fail to realize that a redeeming onos often do not help the aliens gain ground.

I hope Flayra gives everyone mroe time to adapt before putting in changes. I really think 2.0 is balanced and am loving it. Sorry for kinda going off topic.

Heh, no rest for the weary...

This kind of beta is a great chance to allow people to speak their mind on changes. When looking at the general forum, people have opinions on 2.0, but I'd like to see those people try the beta build and speak their mind in the Public Beta Forum. That way all of the public gets a voice.

Flayra won't be rushing through any specific changes, other than the addition of VAC. Otherwise, what will change in the next build will be determined in testing.

problem is that most people just dont know hat they're talking about.
2.0 is perefectly balanced for games with at least 16 players
