Sieging And Energy Costs

<div class="IPBDescription">Is scanning to expensive?</div> Today I had a few games on ROOB's, one of those I commed and won with my team on ns_bast.
But we had a hard time of it.
I started with a relocation, close to their hive, which was engine, and we tried to stay alive, while one marine was capping res towers all the time. I didnt get upgrades, only TF and siege in the base. The aliens felt threatened and kept attacking our base, in the mean time the lonly res capping soldier managed to get a siege lockdown on feed, while a small squad got a siege lockdown at REF. Now we started upgrading, and siege crawled into engine, and while we lost feed.
Now I come to the TOPIC: Although I had multiple sieges and observatories (grouped) I could not keep the hives scanned to kill it. I just did not have enough energy. I kept sending in marines to establish line of sight, because energy recharged slowly and I could not scan to siege, and scan to protect marines in other areas.
If sieging wouldn't take that long we could have ended the game earlier, but with the low energy levels it went on and on, while my HA/GL/SG/HMG squad with JET PACK counter onos support kept the aliens at bay.
Sieging would be a far more viable strategy with less energy/or Res cost for a scan.
Sieging is quite usefull in 2.0 and one of the main reasons for the few marine victories I have seen, but even multiple obs take ages to produce enough energy for a fast sieging.

Comments
when aliens have SC and you want to siege 3 different locations you just need more observatories.
in early game 2 obs are nice.
in mid game up to 4 observatories are fine.
Energy:

bottom half of the screen
or is it
Energy: ##
? hehe
its only obvious. gesh.
This simple problem solved would help the marines more than the marginal skulk and electricity changes in 2.01.
right now sieging while depending on the scanning is not really viable.
