Stop Thinking We Talk Like That

Just come over and listen to us talk
Ok i joined this server and played with them, they where American but we all got along, then one of them asked what states we came from, so i said i was from Britain then they started saying how we speak strangely, so i explained to them that we don't speak like that any more, then they all started saying Oh poppy ****, tally-ho, Balderdash, old boy/chap. Then they said go eat some crumpets you English fool. So ignoring them i just left the server. So i would like to say, we don't speak like that anymore, only the queen, my grandparent and a 48 year old tramp who lives in the train station speak like that.

I'm totally sick of this too, and to be honest, it's racist. Yet just because it's against Brits they feel it's ok.

And 343 ARGH! Please use the original .gif image of the sig, it's within the size guidelines and the jpeg compression has reeeallllly screwed it over.

Well as it stands the image i posted was saved in 256 indexed colour, i take it what you're doing is copying the image to a graphics program and re-saving it to a new file. Just right click the file and then click "save picture as". Then upload this image to the webhost.

When a jpeg compresses images it blurs the colours together, depending on the level of compression as to how much blurring occurs. With .gif's, instead of blurring the image it works to a standard palette of 256 colours (user-definable), there are exact colours so no blurring will occur when outputting the image. .gif's usually have larger file sizes, but the higher quality is worth the extra few kb.

Accents are cool. I love to play in those games with lots of different people from all over the world. I feel all so warm and fuzzy inside.

All of us united in friendship with a common goal to BLAST THE LIVING HECK OUT OF THAT ONOS OMG KILL IT KILL IT KILL IT!!!

But really Its soo awsome to be playing along side friends you just made who live half way across the globe.

Why just the other day I was in a server with a Spanish guy, 2 Japanese kids, a German, 2 Brits, and French guy and one guy from Ireland.

The Japanese kids and the Spanish guy coudlnt speak any english. And the french and German guy spoke very heavily accented English. The Brits had some very, very thick accent so it was hard to understand them. But it was all cool we had tons of fun. And why shoudlnt we? No racists in this server.

It was awsome to hear ONOS!!! in with Japanese, German, British, Irish, Spanish, and French accents all at the same time over voice that lol.

That's one thing i've noticed about 2.0, i love the cry of "Onooooossss!!" you get now, not just "there's an onos here" it's a proper shouted "HOLY **** ONOS!" thing

Hmm. I've only heard this happen once or twice. One time was a bit nasty but it was a give and take. There are a few reasons why someone might act this way:

Certain aspects of their anatomy are drastically smaller in proportion to the rest

Mommy refuses to tuck them into bed anymore

They've been stuck under a rock for 250 years

The nearest public payphone is 200 miles away

Fortunately, the muting system works well in 2.0 and though I feel bad about cutting someone off from the team, they usually deserve it. The funny thing is, I've actually sought out British servers because the "chatter" has a tendancy to lighten my spirits (the phrase "makes me laugh" seemed wrong). There's nothing more cathartic than a good ribbing from an English bloke

Thankfully, the admins of servers where I have had my accent made fun of have banned the people who make fun of my accent. I personally think that any intentional racist should rot in hell, but hey, I have strong opinions on racism. If I find anyone calling me a "dumb brit" or making fun of my accent intentionally, I take a screenshot of what they say, and their won id, and report it to the admin as racism. They usually get banned, and if not, I "ban" the server from my list.

Making fun of British accents is STILL RACIST. It will also get you banned from most servers (decent ones anyway).

    My 2 pence.

i dont think its wrong to make fun of accents as long as its not meant "evil-ish", and that the imitators stop when asked to....
..personally i could imagine myself making fun of an accent, but if i do its just for fun so no Kick-ban kthxbai....

Another problem people don't realise is half-life's voice comm will really muck up the tone of your voice, usually making it have a much higher pitch than normal, or lower. Hense accents end up even more thick. I Had problems getting this into people's heads on CS, but hey, it was cs, where the IQ of players on avaergae is at an all time low. I think it's reached negative figures.

How do you think I feel.

I'm Scottish so very few people understand me in real life, add the mic and thats it. Some people can understand tho. Iv been called Russian before I really find it offensive.

I don't play any games with voice comm on the 4th of July.

I'll give you Yanks "No taxation without representation!"

I try and play with other English people though, then I can take the mick out of the fact that they live "Up North"

I mean there is nothing like the typical "Scousers get their cars nicked" type jokes.

Other than that I have only had my accent taking the **** out of once, I don't worry though I can give as good as I get.

I'm half scottish so at times i say words differently and people tend to take the mick, plus they say at times my voice makes me sound g** and they say i blame the HL voice comm for a excuse. Seems some people in NS IQ is in the negative figures.
