You could have saved a lot of trouble by just mumbling something about "caseless ammo.." <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
there was a silver talon in SoF i believe, it was gr8 for shooting holes in terrorists groins <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

Plus, noone in their right mind would carry one on the battlefield. See the video I attached earlier.
With that said, I'm just tired of all the little 'leet crew' thinking .50 AE is hot stuff just because It's in C0unt3r - $tr!k3.
One, this IS a real-world gun. Its made by <a href='http://www.magnumresearch.com' target='_blank'>www.magnumresearch.com</a>
Two, its not an SMG because it is semi-auto ONLY. And not extended magazine, becausy the factory 7-shot ones are the only ones available, or needed. If 7 shots of .50AE dont put what you're shooting at down, nothing will. Oh, and it doesn't come ported from the factory, so it kicks a lot. you wouldn't WANT it auto, it'd snap your arm like a twig.
Three, 0.50AE is THE largest semi-auto pistol round. some revolvers and bolt-action pistols (yes, they exist. they're even common for tournament shootists) but they fire a lot slower and have lower ammo capacities than an Desert Eagle. Btw, DE's also come in another barrel length (10") and 2 other calibers: .44 magunm and .357 magnum
also, why would the venting ports need to be covered when the gun is in battery? or anyother time, for that matter? in fact, I dont know of a single ported firearms that has them covered, ever. most slide-based pistols actually have cut-outs in the slide specifically to uncover the ports at all times.
oh, and all those more powerful rounds? thats up for debate, and none of those is available in a semi-auto pistol.
and guys, really, paint-ball guns? those have nothing to do with how real guns work. they run off pressurized gas, not a chemical explosion. their fuel is external (a tank) not packaged with each round. the actions bear NO similarity to each opther. learn about how real guns work, please, if you're going to discuss, or more importantly, try to model them.
oh, and there are lots of different actions within a type of rifle, and plenty of variation in each action type. want some examples, just ask.

the question was stopping power, not quality. .50AE is THE most <i>powerful</i> round for a semi-auto pistol available.
burncycles idea isnt a real guy as he drew it, but as he described it, it is correct, and real. the back half of the action slides, instead of the barrel or barrel shroud/slide. it recoils back on rails. this also, btw opens the back of the breach since the barrel doesnt move. that provieds plenty of room to eject the spent case (more than a standard slide-based ejection cutout, in fact)
want ot get a good idea of how it works? one, watch that movie that was posted. two, watch an agent in the matrix fire his. thats what they used.
oh, and the idiot in the movie? he cant control them cause hes using two. and you have to be pretty strong to fire it one handed. like say: a marine?
and just cause it doesnt come new with porting, doesnt mean you couldnt. or that it wont in the future.
Xcaliber must be someone's alias used for engaging in nubbly flaming in the wrong place.. you guys are BOTh nubbed anyway just saw off the barrel and recoil damper on a .50caliber rifle and use (or make yourself) .50 wadcutter rifle rounds. wadcutters are the ones that are completely flat in the front, and don't taper at all. or just use a brick, for chrissakes. just leave this thread alone.
my question was drowned out by the babbling of people ranting in the wrong place, <span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'>is this project still active??</span>

so, is this a serious WIP or what, at this point?
