<div class="IPBDescription">Anyone else notice this problem?</div> Since the release of 2.0 I've been playing a lot of NS.
I've noticed one mindboggeling tendency though: At the start of every round, people rush to the marines, mind you these are not clan stock. In fact we are talking n00Bs here, the kind that time and time again, end up stuck in their base 2 minutes into the game.
WHY?
Do they like loosing miserably over, and over, and over again?
I could understand if they tried to stack on the alien team after being beaten to a pulp by them. But this?<!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->?
The places where I used to play 1.04 people would be waiting for ten seconds before joining, at least making an attempt to figure out some relatively fair teams (meaning that all the "regulars" wouldn't join the same team), and they used to be able to go either way. I'm starting to think the "supposed" imbalance of 2.0 is just the effect of inexperienced players flocking to marines in every game.

Also, the marines are far easier than the aliens for a new player. They've got guns, you just point them and fire. Easy. And ontop of that you get told where to go and what to do, you get everything handed to you on a plate.
Aliens, on the other hand, require a bit of individual thinking, good knowledge of the vents and quick paths from hive to hive. The aliens also require more skill in controlling and attacking than the marines do due to the fact that most of their attacks are melee.
The new release has attracted a lot of new players, so its just a lot more noticable at the moment.
If you've ever been in the RR with me, you've heard me sing the RANDOM TEAM! song
Better yet HELP the new people to understand the game ive seen so many servers were people ask about stuff and the response is either to ignore them or..

This is just plain wrong altho when they ask about something and u explain it 3-4-5 times and they still dont understand it does get anoyying :/
People will learn, and those n00b marines will figure **** out and wanna play aliens.
Everyone, for THIS reason alone PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give NS time to settle down from the obvious affects of the introduction of major new version of an incredibly complex gameplay... it's complexity is what makes it fun, and I assure you things will balance out as the new players get more experienced, and all the old players learn the new way of approaching things.
Just chill... relax... everything will be O ... K <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Cuz of da gunz.
Mos players simply like shooting and its the thing they can do best. As alien they may win but if they don´t get a single kill the entire game cause they don´t know how to skulk they prefer to join the loosing side where they get at least some frags. I remember the first time i played as a skulk and it was very discouraging when i got owned over and over again.
That depends on what servers you play on heh. Never get that kind of problem with (most of) the servers I play on... But then again, we don't seem to get as many noobs on our servers either.
End story. Your rush failed. Get over it, try it again. If that doesn't work, give the aliens a challenge as they try to eat your face <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
And by the way, the random team song is #1 on the Natural-Selection song chart, at the moment.
Then everyone that knows the game goes alien.. and you get noobs vs skilled players.. the teams are horrible and then it happens again with the next game..
It seems the only way to go marine with noobs in the game is to have a key bound to 'jointeamone'
The marines are easier.. if you have a commander that knows what he is doing..
If you comm won't listen to his team and dosent know what he is doing, then the team is screwed..
The game should NOT tell noobs to get into the comm chair.. it does too.. the autohelp: "Point at this comand console and press use to activate commander mode"
I played a game where our comm told us all to go out and get resnodes.. then neglected to tell us that there was an onos eating our base... I dunno what he was thinking, but the only way we found out was when someone respwaned and got killed by the onos..
The aliens are harder to play as.. but it is harder to screw over the entire team.. esp with the new alien res system. But then you get the noobs stacking the alien team, and get owned by l3 ha/hmg marines when trying to figure out how to build the hive..
Maybe have the autohelp system randomly display join marines or join aliens..
This sounds incredibly mean, but have a counter for how many rounds were played as this person.. server to server..
Then, if all the players with <10 rounds try to join a team, it makes them balence the teams so you have like 2 noobs per team, and other skilled players filling out the teams and teaching the noobs..
Don't count lan games as rounds..
And make an option buried in the config.cfg so you can disable this, for a reinstall or whatever..
