everyone seems to to haev one thing in mind about NS2.0...aliens are way overpowered. Marines dont stand a chance.
What I think would be a good balance fix would be to REMOVE res-for-kills on aliens side. yep thats right!...think of it this way...to the marines res is like money...so they get rewarded with money for kills...like bounty hunters.
I think this would be a good balance fix cause it would cause the aliens to focus on getting res nodes (helping the team) instead of getting kills and saving up for higher lifeforms. It just pisses me off that certain ppl will neglete the team!
I think early game domination is the problem and removing RFK will help slow the aliens down A BIT during the beginning to give marines a chance.
So in conclusion...remove RFK on alien side and bring back NS2.0 balance.

Plus the slow res income for aliens on large games is a very hard problem to tackle,RFK resolves this to some extent
Since flay is trying different things to help balance this is a simple suggestion that doesnt required much work at all.

Only reason marine scant win is becuase A, Com doesnt realize he is playing v2 and com accordingly and B, Marines dont realize there playing v2 and play accordingly. At this point i have Commed 22 games and have lost twice, Once was becuase I had non regulars in a pub an no one would weld an IP, the other time was becuase I sent my team into a VARY well set up(and quickly set up) sensory trap and WE dident respawn quickly enough to stop there base blizt.
Quite frankly is you have any degree of organiztion on marines and baring bad luck I dont see how you can lose. Here are a few tips for 'rines having problems.
1 If you see a senory tower, having ANY marines say ANYthing about cloaked skulks, hear cloaking, or even suspect a senosry rush BUILD AN OBERSEVATORY, or beter yet 2 of them. Obs completly negate aleins hive one chamber choice if you use it.
2 For the love of GOD make your marines travel in groups. Now more then ever I see lone marines running off after humping the armory. This is basicly just donating res to the Khara early on.
3 Mines; I dont get this, Mines are allways ignored in the beging of each version of NS. Why, I dont know. But in v2 they rock. Since most aleins teams dont lay Def 1st, mines are a one hit kill agisnt skulks and lerks, make fades easy meat and severly weakin oni. They allso took the laser off it which makes them ALOT more stealthy.
4 Turrets: OK, quite frankly there is NO alien counter to a well place Fodder Farm . Im not talking a wimpy little TF and 3 turrets. Build 2 TF, siege one, eletrfie the other and throw out 8-16 turrets. Get one marines to weld them and you have an invinible bastion of alien a$$ kicking. The "offical" counter is gorges biling bombing which, doesnt hurt mariens welding which, incedenlty weld faster then gorges can bile bomb.
I kid you not, If you do this right it will kil an onos in a single volloy of turret fury. I have seen my fodder farms wipe out attacks consisting of 4 oni, 2 lerks and two gorges. Expensive yes, but how much does 4 oni cost aleins agin??

I mostly play with noobs that don't know what teamwork means.
Lgso has a great group of regulars but were rebuilding our clan site, We went inactive while waiting for v2
The reason is, all I ever hear about is how getting yourself killed means your making the other team richer. Not everyone is skilled enough to avoid getting killed, and this also means that n00bs help make the other team richer. Also, why should dying be punished with making the enemy richer? You not being in a mission critical area due to death(and having to waste time getting back over there), is plenty of punishment.
I'd say reduce aliens starting resources to 15 or so, and make them the only team that gets RFK.
RFK is the cause of two problems in NS. First, the rapid alien expansion. Everyone can go gorge, drop a RT then go about reaping large amounts of res from their myriad RTs and Skulk chompeh. Second, RFK is responsible for those painful sieges of the marine turtle. Every alien that dies on the walls of a turret farm feeds the marine war fund.
I just played an hour long game where we (the aliens) controlled every node execpt one. The marines relocated to eclipse command hive and turtled up. The result? Marines were able to hold off the aliens for half an hour with one res node and denied us our third hive ability, which is usually needed to break the turtle. We finally "won" after 5 marines f4'd. They probably could have dragged it out another 10-15 minutes.
You might be able to drop it to say 23-24, just to make sure that it takes a moment or two before the aliens can drop 1-2 minutes before the first RT drops. But then you fubar larger games, where the aliens may get just ONE res/minute at start.
So, no ... cutting alien res at start is not a very good solution.
Actually, if all you want to do is to slow down alien expansion, a better solution would be that you could't gorge for the first minute or two, or that you can't build RT's... or as has been proposed before, you can't build more than one RT at a time.
