<div class="IPBDescription">Screeny</div> as i have mentioned in another thread, i was attempting to remake nancy. At the moment is is coming along fine with some exceptions. Below i took a screeny for ya to look at of sub space. Sorry about the picture quality but i am yet to find out how to change the resolution in batch compiler. Any help with this matter please post. Also that is a draft of the layout , to me the center looks a bit thin but thats always up for change.

And have you even got a "go" from DevilDog?
Remember when someone *ahem* "modified" NS Nothing?
If DD wanted this done, he would give you the source to modify...
Nancy wont work in 2.0 for many reasons. Onos stuck problems...1 viable entrance to subspace and engine hives, and with multiple gorges, aliens will easily block Mess Hall and Crew Lockers effectively cutting off marine access to any of the hives. Not to mention an overall lack of atmosphere and bland lighting. IMO the map just barely met the 1.0 guidelines and DOES NOT conform to the 2.0 guidelines, thats why it was removed. It was a fun map, despite its flaws, and I would love to see <i>DEVIL DOG</i> top his initial efforts by beefing up Nancy himself...but with the amount of re-design you are gonna have to do, you will almost be making an entirely new map anyway. Why not build your own map. This is a waste of time imho.

So no point continuing since so many people have a problem with bringing a map back to life that everyone liked and also i dont think i will be getting a reply anytime soon.

I'm affraid DevilDog will probably never answer, but i doubt he would mind to see his map completely redone cause gamers liked it. That said, if you don't get any answer, still want to do "something" about the loss of nancy and respect his work at the same time, i think this is possible.
Here's my view:
When BMW (yeah, the cars) design a new model of one of their car, they improve it, but they keep the car somewhat similar to older models right ? (4 doors, same dimensions, etc).
Ok, Nancy is a ship. I don't see why another ship of the same kind of model couldnt exist. Call it Marie, Brenda, whatever... put a sign in the readyroom saying "This ship is dedicated to nancy and its crew, lost in a crash on planet#5435.02c" (hey.. some background !! eheh).
Make a similar layout, but not exactly the same, just fix the flaws like the single entrances to hives and stuff, change some corridors, use the same kind of textures, blabla. Do everything from scratch taking a lot of inspiration from Nancy, but not just copying rooms (a 1980 BMW doesnt have the same motor that a 2003 BMW right? so hey, maybe port engine will not look exactly the same! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> ).
That way you can have the same kind of map, with a cockpit, a messhall, engine, etc ... the same kind of atmosphere and still respect DevilDog's hard work. It will be a new map, your own map, inspired from nancy a lot, but not a simple copy.

Instead, make something new. Nancy Mk. II, or something else inspired by it.
Not sure if that would still be a problem to those that dislike the idea of a remake.
Definitely do try to contact him though. He's a nice guy, and I'm sure he wouldn't mind this (especially because the only reason it was removed was because the source was lost in a hard-drive crash, and changes in 2.0 suddenly needed it to be recompiled). ozbirdboy - If you want to team up I will help you out or we can both do are own thing and see which looks better. I think it will be better if we work together but of course get permission from the first maker of nancy.

marine spawn will also be unassailable.
I liked the bridge (marine start) and the hall near subspace where there are doors (which unfortunately lead nowhere)
