There is really no such thing as admin abuse. It is that person's server (or the admin was appointed by the owner of the server) so that person can do whatever they want. The only thing I would consider as admin abuse is something like admin_execall unbindall (or whatever the command is). Banning someone can never be an abuse of power because bannings are not random; you did something to provoke the ban. And like nuke said, there are many other servers to play on.

I would consider it admin abuse if the server owner gave admin powers to someone who did nothing in putting up the server and started doing very mean things to people with it, and the owner does nothing about it. That's abuse to me.

wow and what i said wasnt hmmmm maybe i should make a admin abuse script where it uses all the plugins all the power of amx and admin mod along with entmod and a couple others to make playing on that server nearly impossible im gonna get right on that script except it has to be server side...

Yeah... Admin abuse would be an admin violating his agreement with the server owner. However, players have no rights on servers, and in that sense, if the admin follows server policy, too bad. If he violates it, tell the server admin and hope he's not dating the guy's sister.

So Nukeaqua, your basically saying that admins abusing their powers doesn't matter? And your also basically saying that any instances of admin abuse pale in comparison to what you describe?

Hmm, but there's still the matter of what you did,

For example, I remember going onto one (thankfully not NS) server once. The level was basically a huge empty level with just a few platforms dotted around, apart from one guy on a platform, stood the other way, not doing anything. After I stuck a couple of rockets up his [Ahem, no bad language here! - My Brain], he exploded in a cloud of gibs.

At which point, the abuse started.

This guy was the admin. The *moment* he spawned after that kill, he claimed I I'd used an aimbot to kill him (because, you know, I need an aimbot to kill a stationary none-offensive target with a splash damage weapon,) and proceeded to repeatedly headshot me with the bowgun, usually in less than a second from me spawning. That's right, an aimbot user too!

Amusingly I *still* managed to get a good few kills on him after that, all the while asking him to explain himself, and asking if he was really so bad that he had to lock himself up in his own server, accuse players of cheats, and use aimbots to get any kills. He eventually kick/banned me out of frustration.

to many posts to read, i just want to say a couple of things.

1. to the guy who made this post, i never abuse people in this forum but i have to say your post was as stupid as you are. and it was pointless.

2. THERE IS such thing as admin abuse, eg: an admin sux at the game and banns someone cause they beat him, and yes it does happen.

3. dont tell us to find a new favourite server, because obviously you have cable and can play on any server with a resonable ping. You must have no friends that play with you because your such a twit, and thats why you dont care wich server you play no.

Of course admin powahs can be abused. I'm not really sure what the topic starter's real point was. Perhaps a 'come and have a go if you think you're hard enough' ? Sounds a bit close to Infamous Ralph to me. Maybe they're related ? Anyway, I think this topic is edging towards lockdom.

Assuming that admins own/rent the server they own, there is an argument that they can do what they like with it.

Too many admins abusing powers is just going to scare people off though, old and new alike. So it's never good for admins to abuse their positions.

yeah remmember though, not all admins actually own the servers, i was admin of a cs server for a while, and i didnt own it, then i left that server and changed to an ns server, and was admin for that server for a short while, and i didnt own that either, im not admin anymore now, to may cry babies sending emails to ban people with cable and stupid stuff like that.

Amazing. I've never really had any problems being an admin. Most of the people who frequent the server simply want to play the game. There will always be a few who break our rules. But you deal with them as necessary; warnings, kick-ings, temp ban, perma ban.

I don't actually believe in punishments like slaps or messing with people's configs (can we say make config.cfg read only ?) - that's just abusive and irresponsible.

And I've only banned one player off the bat and I had a damn good reason for that.

I think this is one of the advantages of not being a mega-popular server - we don't attract so many of the idiots. Keeps the atmosphere nice and cool - just the way I like it.

damn dude, i might be gettin broad band soon, but im in the middle of a tafe course right now and dont get payed enough to get it. my point is, if i got braodband ide play in your server cause it sounds cool. i can only play in about 4 servers that dont freeze me up, but i still get like 400 ping. cant wait for broadband to be like 20$ a month hehe

Having re-read it, my reaction is: what?

I'm having difficulty discerning any point to the original post, I *think* that they may have been saying "Hey guys, my server is now up and running with helpful, but strict admins. Hacking will be dealt with harshly, but our admins are approachable."

The complete lack of punctuation may be down to English not being their first language. If so, then warning us would make the more irascible memebers of the forums less likely to spew invective.
