Hiccups

My computer:

AMD Athlon XP 2400+
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro
1 Gig DDR RAM
Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer
Cable

I can run so many high end games just fine, but whenever I play NS, every 15 seconds or so I get a 1 second freeze. The framerate is extremely smooth always, I can even run very good a framerate will AA on, but this occasional hiccup can really hamper the game during key firefights when every second counts. Any thoughts on what I can do to fix this? I have all background programs closed when I play (including Virus software) and I am not downloading anything, what could it be?

Hey, i'm having the exact same problem. I used net_graph 3 and found that everytime this problem occurs, the choke shoots to 15 and then quickly goes back down to 0 when the game unfreezes. I really like NS, but if this problem keeps coming up, i think i'm going to have to go back to DoD. Please help!!

choke usually means you have to tweak your rate settings

Thanks for the advice! I actually had my rate set too high, at 20000. Anyway, i lowered it to 10000 and now i'm playing hiccup free. Thanks!
