    SilentKnight.. What's your status ? I mean status of gun <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Hmm, since -SilentKnight- seems to have vanished, and since i loved this concept too much to let it die, i decided to have a go myself.

    <img src='http://arson.philez.com/lmg/lmg3.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image'>

    Barrel looks bad, but it is only placeholder till i can think of a nice design for it, it's also grown a charging handle/ejection port, and some other stuff.

    I must say though, the concept of this gun is truly original, and an amazing design.

    [Edit]By the way, it currently stands at 1018 polies, but there's no back face culling or whatnot, i'd rather wait till it's aniamted before i delete faces.[/Edit]

    Looks great 'cept for that handle. Only fairies can fit their hands in that... <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Edit: CARRYING handle <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    ummmmm... that carrying handle is a little.... small. maybe try extending the topside of the rifle a touch, eg;

    Ok, well it's surprisingly been over 5 hours since i last posted, so here's an update.

    Now stands at 1144 polies. The stock, carry handle, front rail, and foregrip have been completely rebuilt. The magazine, and reciever (i think that's the bit the magazine slots into?) have also been bevelled.

    The barrel is only placeholder, just looks a bit better than a cylinder for screenshot purposes.

    Looks good, but....well...could you maybe contact Silent? He's still around, and I'm sure he still has the model, somewhere. That way, we can have a MUCH lower poly count. Like...ungodly lower.

    If you read the top of the page Arson mentioned that he <i>hasn't deleted the unseen faces yet</i>.

    That should chop at least a couple of hundred off easily.

    Indeed, Sir Crouching of Hamsterness. With the details on this model, back face culling (and removing things like the ejection port) should knock off a good 3-400 polies atleast, which will leave it around the same poly count as the existing LMG. However, i've still alot of work to do on this, and i don't wanna delete anything until it's animated, i'd rather limit culling to the animations, than limit the animations to the culling, if you know what i mean.

    Also, things like the barrel/stock are just placeholder, and much higher quality than what a final release will contain, they're only there for screenshot purposes. Truth is, you barely see the stock ingame, so it will most likely be more boxy once compiled. Also, the barrel (which on it's own is probably over 200 polies) will be replaced with a much simpler cylinder, since you barely see any of it past the front end of the gun.

    1,1kp is a nice polycount and there's no need for it to be lowered

    How about this?
    "Just make the bolt bigger, and the this rail with bolt a bit longer, put it a bit forward (left) and a bit lower" <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    BTW Can u make version without barrel guards?
    I know my changes look awfully, but i'm not artist <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> -> Just idea of change...

    Ahh yes, i see your point on the charging handle. I'll endevour to set it right, it does look like you could fart near it and it'd break. =/

    Ok, another update, on my 18th save file now, lol. A few minor changes, most of which you wont notice. The magazine is slightly bigger, and the bevels on it reduced in size now. The charging handle is slightly bigger, too. The biggest change is the stock, i've decided to see how a lightweight style looks, something needed to be done with it anyway, it was too high on previous versions. Opinions?

    Oh man...looks great...must have model...GIMME!

    The deploy animation could be pulling the stock out since it looks like it's collapsible inwards. sorta like shotty.
    And add more of those 'ledge' things on the stock.

    Can't really add more, otherwise it gets stupidly high poly for something that, to be honest, won't be seen much (if at all) ingame.

    Ok, yet another update. I started doing some bevelling in some areas earlier, which lead to a bit more bevelling, which lead to about 60% of the modelling being deleted, and having to be remodelled to accomodate said bevels. It's looking really nice with the bevels i must admit, however, still a few more hours work till i've got it sorted, then i've gotta get the balance right (it looks very front heavy atm).

    I'll post again tomorrow. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
