Problem With Controles

<div class="IPBDescription">im confused</div> so i go into settings (or whatever it's called), and customise the controls. Then i go into configuration and ad my username info.

Then when i play in a game, none of my new controls work, and my name is NSPlayer.

Am i doing something wrong, or is this some type of bug?

It gets me really mad to, cuz my "s" key sticks half the time and i can't move at all.

I'm not retarted, i did hit accept.

    --------------------------------------------------------------

I went to check out my probem a bit more, to give a play by play here.

so i open, go to config. and change the settings (and i only found a "ok' button-- no accept), then to mutiplayer and to customise, as to change the name.

then i went into a server and all of the settings were back to the defalt. i then went back a page and changed them again while i was still in the server. no effect. im still confused.

    ------------------------------------------------------------

Furthermore, if i exit out of the config menu and then go back in, the controles are what i changed them to. If i exit out of the game, however, the controles are back to defalt.

do you have an autoexec.cfg file in your ns folder? check, if so - delete it, unless you have stuff in it that yo absolutely need. Then try again.

wow... interesting. Do you have full admin access to your own computer? Or is there something that blocks files from being saved?

Or maybe someone played a nasty trick and hid all your config files.

i do not have full admin rightd on this account, but saving my controles workes on all other games (including every officail HL game) But ill will check

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I loged into an admin account and found the cfg file and renamed it. It worked! O loged in, loged out and a bunch of other stuff and its all good.

I'd say it sounds like config.cfg is read-only but you say there's no config files at all... maybe copy the one from the valve directory into the ns directory... and then try to set your settings again... who knows.

Just remember folks, if you're not the sys admin, then some other jackass is.

Glad to hear you solved your controls problem.

How exactly does this stop you from playing on the admin account, though? Just make a shortcut to HL on it, and there you go.

Do your controls manually in a text file called ns.cfg in your ns folder, then add the line "exec ns.cfg" to your autoexec.cfg, which you will need to create if it does not exist.
