Ns Dedicated Server, But I Don't Want That.

I checked a pages of posts back and didn't find anything relevant to this, so here goes. Even though I am positive I installed the correct file... "ns_install_v20", the only thing under natural selection I found was "Natural Selection Dedicated Server". Upon choosing that, Windows begins searching for the file hlds.exe and nothing happns. Anyone have anything?

    Ok, I reran the install, and ran into the same problem as before. I also checked for NS in the custom game section, and it's not there. Is it possible I just downloaded a bad install file? It was from Fileshack, one of the links on the site...

    It's extremely unlikely that the install would start at all if it were 'bad' - it would fail it's internal CRC when you started it. Do this:

    Run the install. get to teh screen where it asks you to browse for where your HL install is located. Take a screenshot of that, and post it here (use mspaint to make it a small gif - I don't care about details, just want to read what it says). This will give me a hint.

    The printscreen button (Or Prt Sc), then open up paint / any other graphical editor, paste and change it to a gif (smaller size). There are some FREEWARE programs @ Cnet or any other freeware / software site that can take screenshots of your screen for u, if u for instance dont have a print screen button <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Hope I helped...

    1) hit print screen
    2) open MSPaint
    3) hit ctrl-v (tell it yes)
    4) select the area we want
    5) hit ctrl-x
    6) make a new paint document
    7) hit ctrl-v (again yes)
    8) save the file as a gif <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
