At one point, I would support you guys in saying "PLAY THE GAME FIRST!!!"

But I tell you what, go on CoFR, I played for 8 hours yesterday, commed a lot, and went on marines a lot, we had some GREAT commanders, but every single game (except for one) we were just about even mid-game then lost, BADLY!

While I was comm, I did everything these forums tell me, obs in mini bases, tech is most important, res are better then hives, scan in front of your troops, ECT..

I just cannot hold a minibase, we had all 9 marines there, and about 6 turrets, it fell when the aliens got a hint of my presets outside their hive

I tried splitting up my forces and going for 2 hives... that didn’t work at all,

I even tried a gorge/res hunter team... the aliens STILL get res quickly

I really REALLY don’t know what to say... I mean on one had, on paper, everything has a counter, you guys worked for what? 4 months balancing, and everything SEEMS like it would be totally balanced.....

but what is happening in CoFR?!?!!

keep in mind, all players were skilled, we even stacked the marine team, heck even STONEBURG (greatest comm on the server) comms there, so don’t give me, "you need better comms" or "you need better players" or "you need to not play 1.04"

albeit, these games are fun to play, its fun to be comm, and its fun to be on each team, I am just wondering why, why does everyone say its balanced, when in the days I have played 2.0 on semi-skilled to "elite" servers, aliens always pull though (unless its a shotgun rush)

I don't see how there is even an arguement about how even the teams in 2.0 are. I say that the proof is in the pudding. I've been a comm and a rine in over 12 different servers just to see if its the players or the game. And in those servers I saw as poor as a 10:1 aliens to rines victory ratio. Even factoring in random chance there is no way that 10 losses in a row could be accounted for as poor players because, as the rines loose the majority of them quit and different players log in and fill the gaps. I love NS and I don't claim that it is anywhere close to easy to balance a game like this but I cant believe that all these people can in any way deny the balance issues.

I won't deny the game in unbalanced right now; however I do not think it is as unbalanced as many people make it out to be. I really have had very few Marines losses thus far. It wasn't even that the aliens were bad, we just played a good solid game, expanded carefully, and stuck together. The aliens are vicious if they all show in one place, but the marines can split their forces and be fairly successful; especially with phase gates to zip them anywhere they need to be.

As an alien, I found organized marine teams very hard to beat. There does seem to be a breaking point around mid late game though, where if the marines don't have enough momentum, they just get steam rolled. I think limiting the starting res for the aliens would solve most of the problems. The weapons/tech generally seem balanced, but the aliens start in a much stronger postions since everyone can drop either a res tower or chamber at the start of the game. Reducing the cost of arms labs upgrades will also help the marines keep their momentum through the mid-to-late game I think.
