If Nancy Was Recreated

what should be changed?
My list:
1. 2 entrances to hives
2. more connected layout (no chokepoints as strong as Mess Hall in current Nancy)
3. more intuitive vents
4. graphical errors and glitches
5. small tweaks like hard to get to vents and vents that you can trap yourself in as a marine.
I began to think of this when reading the Nancy V2 thread where Ozbirdboy is showcasing his project of recreating Nancy. Thinking evolved into designing and I put together a layout just for the fun of it. I meant to post it in the thread mentioned above, but decided against it just in case I'm lucky enought to get some feedback about it. so I won't clutter up another person's thread.
note: I'm not a mapper and can't make a single room with Hammer. Layout is all I'm going to offer to Nancy recreation. It's naturally free to use by anyone, just give some credit for me for modifying the original layout. (Yeah right, like someone's going to use it)

There's a new version of the layout further down the thread.
Wow, thats what i call a small map.
Actually this looks pretty good, this will do away with the stalemates Nancy so often saw.
I wouldnt do away with the vents entirely though.
also no more direct LOS to hive from vents.
I like it!
yea maybe a bit too small from the looks of it.
i miss some curves and vents in it.
and NONAME only has one marine entrance making it like subspace, but ...confused...
If it's not welded, then Mess Hall isn't the major thing it once was, since there's a back route.
Edit: Ollj, NoName still has two marine entrances. One just happens to look vent-like, that's all. Remember that entrance? Yeah, that one.
I'm going to assume the mapper(s) who remake this will also be including the rediculously complete vent system as well?
Cronos, I think the only way of getting unit lengths out of it is to measure the hallways and rooms in PSP or whatever and then convert the pixel lengths to unit lengths. I'm a complete nub with PSP, but at least with the box selection tool you can measure parts of the map quite easily. Or was this at all what you meant?
And Fieari, it sounds like a good idea. I left weld points out just because I wanted to focus on the layout. I thought the mapper who might take the project would like to work out the welds by him/herself.
Subspace had 2 marine entrances and 2 alien entrances, it was perfect.
Port was the only real problem hive the way I see it, but all you need is a couple guys to boost up some other people and you could get into the vent system and once again set up base without them noticing (this only applies to early on in the game, as they often would fortify around the vent once marines got JPs). A little teamwork and you are in. Set up a pg and hope they don't notice (isn't that how pgs always are? ) and attack.
Problem with updating the Nancy layout is that it is actually pretty small map with rather low connectivity. Therefore coming up with alternative routes to hives isn't easy without changing the layout considerably.
I haven't included vents so every passage you see is marine friendly. There are 3 new weldables, all somehow associated to the new hive entrances. One opens up the red vent to Mother Hive, one repairs an elevator to Port Engine and one opens the shortcut to Mother Interface.
As always, feedback is welcome. As are layouts by other people. It's not a thread for just my layouts, you know. I think it would be interesting if we could gather the layout modification suggestions the community has into this thread so the Nancy 2.0 team has some kind of community resource to draw from if they wish to do so.
