An Issue I'm Having Since I Installed Ns 2.0

Help appreciated
Anyway, this is my first post here and it's probably a question you get a lot. Excuse me if it's bothersome, but I looked through the FAQs and a few pages of topics and saw nothing about it. Here's my question:

Ever since I installed NS 2.0, I've only been getting 60 FPS in all Half-Life mods. While my computer is quite capable of acheiving 100 FPS constantly, I seem to get a maximum of 60 as if my fps_max is set to it. Here's a list of things I've already tried to solve the problem on my own:

-Deleting all Half-Life related files and reinstalling them
-Tweaking my configuration
-Lowering my video mode to 640x480
-Reinstalling NS several times, both taking off and putting on 32 bit color during installation

I tried all of these to no avail. So, if you have a solution / link to a solution / earlier thread filled with solutions, I'd appreciate your posting them. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Sorry, I accidently posted this in New Players Forum instead of Tech Support where it should have been posted. I apologize for making extra work for mods who may have to move it.

That's one of the nicest first posts in the history of these forums

    Welcome

    1. post your pc specs
    2. try Roob's fps guide
    3. You said it seemed that it was set to 60 max... did you actually change it to fps_max 100 ? You didn't mention doing that

    Good luck

I agree with thingy, It's probably that you need to set 'fps_max 100'

He may have a graphics card, namely a GeForce 2 - same as what I have - and I haven't ever been able to get off the 60 fps mark. Maybe it is because I am too lazy to revert to older drivers where I can turn off the v-sync.

I read the guide, but I messed up pretty badly and used a program I shoudn't have. My monitor is quite old so it isn't surprising I can't handle a very high refresh rate. I'll post my comp specs nonetheless.

    Athlon 2.1 gigs
    768 DDR Ram
    GEForce FX 5200 128 RAM

I'll go ahead and double check everything and see if I can turn Vsync off.

Edit: Ok, turning VSync off fixed everything. Thanks again for your help everyone.

Wow. I wish I could get even a constant 30 fps. My machine runs at about a steady 20 or so fps in non-combat, 10 in combat, and 1 fps when there's a welding convention going on. My machine specs:

    PII 500 mgz
    Intergrated Graphics
    383 megs of ram
Windows 98SE, all patches, never reinstalled windows since I got it.

Geez dude, you should probably do a search for that better-performance thread in the tech forums, you can turn off things like dynamic lighting and such to get the most out of your system.

How the heck do you even play?!?

You might want to get a better video card, mine is teh crapz0r Intel 810e intergrated video card and it gives me roughly the same amount of FPS as you do,and yes it is playable, just not smooth enough to help

BTW,you might want to check this thread, got some answers in it

First type in net_graph 3 before you make any changes. If you get a constant FPS when you look at buildings or what not, do not change it. I did, when I got a constant 60, no matter what I looked at, and I got 85 fps while looking at a wall, and got 20 - 10 fps when looking at buildings. I would keep it 60, as you dont need anymore...

Plus, if you really wanna change it...
Just do what ThinG said. The british never lie.
